⚽What a way to kick off ! ⚽Soccer legend Michelle Akers, at right, spoke to a packed house of attendees earlier today as part of the National State Auditors Association (NSAA) annual conference in Tacoma. Michelle also took time for a great photo opp with State Auditor Pat McCarthy, who serves as NSAA President.

Michelle, a founding member of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team and FIFA Female Player of the Century, helmed a discussion about teambuilding and creating champions using her experience of being both an Olympian and a world premier soccer player to reflect on these issues in the accountability community.

Michelle talked about the importance of setting high standards and putting in the work, every day, to reach them. “Playing against my team in training was harder than playing any other team in the world,” she said.

As auditors, we work hard every day on behalf of our communities to foster fiscal responsibility of public funds—our ultimate goal.

Thank you, Michelle, for your inspirational words!
