RPEC Chapter 13 members joined the Washington State Alliance for Retired Americans and the Puget Sound Advocates for Retirement Action-PSARA on June 10th for Social Security Worker Visibility Day at Social Security offices in Spokane, Tacoma, Everett, and Port Angeles to support those who show up every day, keep the offices functional, and provide services to Social Security beneficiaries.

Thank you to our Chapter 2 - Olympia members who turned out in a show of support at today's Select Committee on Pension Policy meeting where RPEC, the Washington State School Retirees Association, and the Washington Education Association - Retired proposed a joint request for an ongoing Plan 1 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

This morning, the Supreme Court upheld a landmark provision of the Inflation Reduction Act that gives Medicare the ability to negotiate prescription drug prices with corporations. This decision helps ensure older Americans can afford their medications.

Today was the Washington State Labor Council 2026 COPE Endorsing Convention. In attendance from RPEC was President Clair Olivers, Executive Director Derek VanSpoor, and Chapter 2 - Olympia members Martin Rollins and Lonnie Johns Brown. The day was spent voting on labor endorsements for Federal, Legislative, and Supreme Court candidates at the Machinist's Hall in Tukwila.
