Constitution requires that all states evaluate voting district boundaries every ten years following the U.S. In 1983, Washington voters established the Washington State Redistricting Commission to ensure voting boundaries are established through a fair and bipartisan process. The Redistricting Commission includes two Democrats and two Republicans as voting members and a non-voting, nonpartisan chair.

The 2021-22 Redistricting Commission has finished its work. Under the leadership of the youngest and most diverse Commission ever appointed, staff executed a robust public outreach campaign to solicit input into the mapping process. Participation in the 2021 redistricting process reached unprecedented and historic levels. Thank you to everyone who participated.
