As we head into the long weekend .. a gentle reminder that a Burn Ban is in effect BUT S'MORES ARE OK!

A temporary fire safety burn ban is in effect to keep our community safe during these dry months ... but your end of summer vibes don't have to stop. Here's the quick info:

âś… Yes to these: Fire in a fire ring, charcoal briquettes, and perfectly toasted s'mores on your private residential property.

❌ No to these: Burning a pile of yard waste in the unincorporated areas of Thurston County.

Burn ban runs through Thursday, October 15.

Deschutes Falls Park is truly a gem of Thurston County, but the parking lot is fairly small and can limit the number of visitors.

Our team is working to expand the parking lot to boost your access to this park. Crews will start work on Friday, September 11, and expect to be done by the end of the month.

The PARK WILL REMAIN OPEN during construction, though flaggers will be on site to direct visitors around equipment. Updates will be posted to the project webpage here: thurstoncountywa.info/deschutesparking
