In Moses Lake today to open our state's — and our country's — first Sustainable Aviation Fuel production facility that takes carbon dioxide and turns it into jet fuel.

Washington state is ready to lead on innovation in Sustainable Aviation Fuel. We have deep historical roots in aerospace that has helped us build an ecosystem of 1,500 aerospace companies, world-class research institutions, deep engineering talent, and a highly skilled workforce.

Congratulations to everyone at Twelve!

The latest State of the States Report shows Washington ranks first in the nation in economic productivity, 9th highest in economic output and 11th in hourly earnings growth. That’s great news, but we must continue to work on tackling our economic challenges — Washington’s income inequality is worse than half the other states, and our poverty rate is middle-of-the-road.

Some other encouraging findings: Washington is in the top third of states in average years of education, voter participation, life expectancy and air quality.

Students are missing what’s written on the whiteboard and focusing more on memes instead of math because of digital distractions.

Studies show teenagers spend, on average, roughly a quarter of their school day on their cellphones – more than 41 instructional days over the course of a school year.

Parents, teachers and school districts are working hard to protect kids, but they need support.

That’s why I’m proposing Washington’s first law getting cellphones out of classrooms. It’s time to put phones “Away for the Day” in K-12 schools.

My team and I are working closely with our agencies regarding our budget outlook. This letter from the Office of Financial Management Director lays out the challenge well. There’s a lot of information still to come before I propose my budget in December, including two caseload forecasts and three additional revenue forecasts. That information will give us a better sense of the scale of the challenge. That said, we know the shortfall will be significant. I’m meeting with our agencies and communicating my goals: Preserve core services, protect our state’s most vulnerable, don’t raise taxes, and address the structural challenges in our budget to achieve long-term financial stability and protect our AAA bond rating. You can read the full letter here:https://governor.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2026-06/2027-29%20OPERATING%20TRANSPORTATION%20AND%20CAPITAL%20BUDGET%20INSTRUCTIONS.pdf

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

On the anniversary of D-Day, we remember the thousands of service members who faced unimaginable challenges in the fight for freedom. Their bravery helped change the course of history and secured liberties that continue to shape our world today.

As we reflect on their legacy, we also recognize the enduring service and sacrifice of all Veterans who have answered the call to serve.

We will never forget the heroes of D-Day and the generations who have carried their commitment to duty, honor, and country forward.
