We’ve been a little quiet on here not because the work has stopped, we’ve just been deep in it! Here are a few things we’ve been up to…

❤️50+ folks have shopped in Kathleen’s Closet so far this year alone! Whether you have business casual clothes and accessories to donate, or need an outfit for an upcoming interview, meeting, court date (actual date), or something else - stop by Kathleen’s Closet Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 10a-2p and check it out.

🧡Our family friendly Second Saturday volunteer work parties are a GREAT place to meet other community members, help out around our space, or sort clothing donations. We couldn’t do what we’re doing without the support from volunteers. THANK YOU✨

💛Every day at our building, we are hosting incredible humans doing incredible work. Groups like .hummingbird, , the NAACP, the save our library forum, , , and more incredible groups are gathering here in community.

💚Our FREE community kitchen dinners, Bread and Belonging, continue this month with dinner this Friday from Ramirez and a virtual watch party of the WAISN Rapid Response response training Friday March 6 from 5-8 (virtual training starts at 6pm!)

J O I N U S For our 31st annual Women of Achievement fundraising celebration - Saturday October 11th, here at YWCA Olympia🧡
This year we are honoring 5 incredible folks, Dr Thelma Jackson, Tali Economy, Royetta Prew , Gabby Schoolcraft, and Cholee Gladney.

They’ll join the community of former Women of Achievement honorees pictured here from our event in 2024 - plus 130 other honorees - who have received this award over our 31 years of hosting this event. What an incredible community and we’re so glad to be a part of it.

Join us October 11th to celebrate the incredible impact these honorees have had on our community and help us raise vital funds to support our emergency fundraising campaign.

Since sharing publicly about the severity of YWCA Olympia’s funding situation on August 11th at the City of Olympia’s City Council meeting, we have moved through some incredibly challenging weeks, but we have never felt alone.

During this season of hardship we have been incredibly grateful for the ways people are showing up for . We shared an urgent funding need with you all, and thanks to folks donating and sharing with others we have already made it a third of the way to our goal❣️We are so grateful.

Thank you to folks who have signed up to volunteer to support Kathleen’s Closet and those who have sent ideas, shared with you networks, and sent us support from afar.

Both as a local community and a global one - it can feel like everywhere we turn there are more hardships to overcome. There might be seasons when it takes disciplined intention to notice the good, the care, the connection. Although we still have a long ways to go, the care and the connection from you all is helping us through right now.
