Talauna for Olympia Schools Position 1

Talauna for Olympia Schools Position 1 Former Olympia School Board Director District 2 and former candidate for Olympia School Board Dist. 1

My name is Talauna Reed and I am currently serving on the Olympia School Board. As a mother of twins who attended Olympia schools, I understand firsthand the importance of a quality education and the need for a fair and inclusive system. During my time on the board, I have consistently fought for greater transparency and the interests of students and teachers. I was the only director to vote again

st the district's budget cuts and staff reductions because I firmly believe in prioritizing cuts to administration instead of cutting teachers. Beyond my role on the school board, I am actively involved in advocating for renters through my work with the Tenants Union of Washington State. I bring valuable insights and a commitment to bringing underrepresented communities to the table. Additionally, I am a passionate community organizer who will fight tirelessly for the rights and well-being of all families, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their needs are addressed. Please vote for me, Talauna Reed, for the Olympia School Board to have a strong and dedicated voice representing your concerns. Together, let's build a stronger, transparent, and more equitable education system that empowers all our students and supports our families.

Please donate to this wonderful event. I'm proud of many things I have been able to be a part of in my life. Not only am I a part of this, but I was given this vision after feeling hopeless that my family may not get Justice for Yvonne McDonald. Not only do I get to make an impact in the lives of so many kids and their parents, but I get to share her story and continue to do what she loved to do. Yvonne loved helping kids learn to read.

This is the 4th annual event and I have only been able to do this with the support of my friends and community. Any amount helps and if you want to donate items we can arrange for pick up.

I want everyone to lift someone up today! It costs absolutely nothing to be kind to someone. I have personally been under attack by racist trolls for many years and let me tell you, im kinda numb to it, but I am now witnessing my friends and people I love and care about being attacked and mocked because of their disabilities and for speaking truth and speaking out against things that harm marginalized people in our communities and enough is enough. There are more good people in this world than there are evil people. When you see hate being spewed in social media or anywhere shut it down. My friend Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo is a solid ally and serves in this community because she loves humanity and genuinely cares about others.

She just won an election and will be serving students and families in a way that they have not been served because some of our current leaders could care less about Disabled Lives, Black Lives, Trans Lives or most people really.

We need to hold them accountable... PERIOD!
Jess, We have your back and if people come for you, they are coming for all of us!

The election is over, I did not win the seat for District 1. I am relieved, its been a hell of a ride. The community was great, the students and staff were incredible and I dont think I have been in a more exclusive environment in my entire life.

I wanna share my gratitude for each and every person that showed up to work on the commititees. I am so sorry the district could not make more solid committments to the much needed work that needs to be done.

The people in the community care so much and the same care isnt matched by all of those in positions of power.

I am beyond excited for Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo for Olympia School Board D-2 to take the seat for District 2. She cares and she will give it 100% The community is in great hands. I will support her every step of her journey. Congrats, Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo.

Our students need Jess's voice and I believe mine is needed also, so I will not give up advocating for them. Over the next couple if days, I will begin to share my journey while serving as an appointed official on the Olympia School Board. It is important for the community to understand the support students and staff need. Not all students are getting what they need due to the lack of action by some of the current leadership. ( This isnt new info for some of you)

Thank you to every single person who voted, challenged the trolls, donated and continued to support my ongoing work in the community. Olympia School District students and families this isnt goodbye, it is a dont worry, my work isnt done and I will be around to continue this journey along side of yall!

Please reach out anytime. Lets work together to save our schools and maintain stability for the kids.

Can't wait for this Election to be over. Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo thank you for being a true rider this election. I am a winner, because I found a true friend.

Its interesting, people ask me, " what are you going to do if you don't win this election.?" The answer is quite simple....... Get more sleep and the same thing I have been doing. My community service does not end if I do not continue on the school board, just like it did not stop when I was appointed.

The 4th annual Joy & Justice Book and gift giveaway is right around the corner and we still have a housing and homeless crisis, so my work with The Thurston County AH Advisory Board is still in full effect. We still need Justice 4 Yvonne McDonald, in fact I just found more evidence for her case. These are just a couple of things that will keep me busy.

In the mean time get out and vote. If you cannot find your ballot, you can vote in person until 8pm at 2400 Evergreen Park Drive SW.

Busses are free or if you need a ride DM me and I will give you one.

Thank you everyone for all of your support.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Vote for Talauna Reed and Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo for the Olympia School Board!

Dear SURJ Community,

We have just a couple of days left for you to Show Up for Racial Justice and to make a huge difference in the lives of every student in the Olympia School District. We strongly urge you to vote for the first African American to ever serve on the Olympia School Board, Talauna Reed.

We must elect Talauna Reed for the Olympia School District District 1 and Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo for District 2. In order to save our schools, we must elect Talauna and Jess. They represent the voices of everyone in this community and will ensure that underserved students, such as students with disabilities and students of color have access to resources to achieve their academic goals. There is a current school efficiency review process taking place that is flawed and the decisions that are coming up regarding school closures will be based on the information obtained through this biased efficiency review process that did not include providing all committee members with the necessary information to make any informed decision and one where conflicts of interests were ignored by all Directors except Director Reed.

Unless we elect someone into office that will challenge the current process our children will be potentially traumatized by having to be bussed out of the area of their neighborhood school, because their school was closed without properly considering all options. Director Reed is the only Director challenging the biased results and lack of transparency and integrity that this community has witnessed over the last couple of weeks. Reed will not rubber stamp what is ultimately being proposed because the scenarios that are being proposed have special interests and not the interests of all students and staff.

Our students deserve the opportunity to thrive and staff deserve job security and stability throughout the district and Talauna Reed and Jess Tortellotte-Palumbo will undoubtedly fight for students, staff, and families.

Please get out and vote by Tuesday, November 7, 2023. You can vote in person at 2400 Evergreen Park Drive or you can drop it off at the post office or any of the ballot boxes. The sooner the better!

Don't forget to sign your ballot sleeve!

Thank you for your support!

Hello Voters! Let's change the way things have been done for far too long...

Let's break voting records 30 % voter turnout is not going to get us the change we need

Stop voting for people who are not doing what WE THE COMMUNITY need them to do

Candidates who show up to Democrat meetings only during the election, only want your votes and they will not will not make time for you once they are in office.

Elected officials are public figures who are supposed to serve the public, vote for candidates who actually serve in the community, when there are no photographers around.

Don't be fooled by a candidate who constantly tells you what their job title is, if you cannot see the work they are doing in their current role that means they arent doing what we elected them to do.
