On Monday, August 17, 2026 at approximately 1258 hours, Sandy Spring UTV740 was dispatched to assist on a reported wires down call with injuries at Brown Church Road and Ridge Road, Damascus Box 13-11. Chief 704 responded with UTV740, and met up with Carroll County Mt. Airy ATV1. Both units made access to the patients via the powerline Right of Way, along with Paramedic Engine 713 who traveled by foot. Both patients were brought out to awaiting medic units and transported to local hospitals.

Emergency crews are responding to multiple reports of downed trees and power lines following today’s storm.

Please remember:
• Never approach or drive over downed power lines. Always assume they are energized and extremely dangerous.
• Avoid areas with fallen trees, as they may be unstable or conceal live electrical hazards.
• If you encounter a road closure, obey all barricades and use an alternate route.
• Report hazardous conditions to 911 if there is an immediate threat to life or safety, or notify your utility provider of power outages.

Please use caution while traveling, slow down, and give first responders and utility crews plenty of room to work safely.
