Burn permits are required for burning of brush and leaves in the unincorporated portions of the county. The permits are free of charge and issued over the phone by contacting 662-469-8080. A Deputy Fire Marshal within our office monitors weather conditions daily and determines based on wind speed/gust and humidity whether or not permits should be issued.

While the weather may seem nice today to burn humidity levels are low resulting in dry fuel and wind speeds/gust are up resulting in the potential for fire spread.

Please refrain from burning today. Departments across the county are responding to numerous fires that are spreading to neighboring properties.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM LEWISBURG WATER:

Water has been restored to areas affected by todays water outage.

Those areas affected will be under a boil water notice. Only those customers affected!

Water samples will be pulled Monday, January 13, 2025 and sent to the State Health Lab. Once the results are in we will either lift the boil water notice or extend. This process could take 24 to 48 hours.

You may notice a cloudy appearance to your water. This is due to air getting in the lines. We will be opening up fire hydrants in the area to help pull some of that air out.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM LEWISBURG WATER ASSOCIATION REGARDING A PENDING OUTAGE:

Due to a break on the main water line going down Hwy 305, Lewisburg Water will have to shut the water off. We are able to delay repairs until tomorrow, January 12 at 10 AM, to give everyone time to prepare. The repair is expected to take 4-6 hours. This will affect anyone North of Interstate 269 (on Hwy 305), Bethel Rd. E., Woolsey Rd., Broadway Rd., Cole Rd., Stewart Rd., Dunn Ln., and College East and West. This also includes the following subdivisions: Cedar Creek, Montrose, Villages of Cedar View, Evening Shade, Cypress Trail, Cedar View Estates, Southern Trails, Mitchell’s Corner, McElroy Farms, Mitchell Grove, Gwin Farms, Dawkins Farm, Belmor, Payne Parkway, Oakwood Park, Browning Preserve, Ross Meadows, and Turkey Creek.
As a precaution, once water is restored we will be under a boil water notice until further notice.

FROM LEWISBURG WATER ASSOCIATION:

Water service in the area of Bethel Road between Hwy. 305 and Craft Road (including Carter’s Plantation subdivision and areas on Ross Road) will be disrupted for approximately 2-4 hours due to a contractor hitting a water main in the area. No boil water notice has been issued at this time.
