Mount Constitution Road remains closed at Mountain Lake turn off. As you can see from the picture we have 15 inches of snow at little summit. Enjoy this beautiful day on the rock!

Dozens of hikers joined Naturalist Hobbes yesterday morning to ring in the new year with a “First Day Hike” at Obstruction Pass State Park, where we learned about moss, drank hot cider over a campfire, and participated in activities like “Meet A Tree!”

If you didn’t know about the Washington State Park “First Day Hime” program, don’t fret! It comes around every January 1st! In the meantime, mark your calendars for the rest of the exciting programs coming up in our parks in 2023!

Wondering how to kick off the New Year? Why not start off with a hike!

State Parks and Friends of Moran will be holding our annual First Day Hike on Sunday January 1st at Obstruction Pass!

The event runs from 11am until about 3pm.
There will be light refreshments (and those coveted FDH pins!) At the trailhead as well as directions for anyone arriving late.
For folks who want the full First Day Hike experience there will be a Naturalist lead hike down to the OP campground at 11am for more refreshments, a fire, and activities. This year's theme is exploring ways to deepen your experience in nature!

All you have to do is show up at the trailhead, you can participate as much or as little as you want, we just want to see you out there! As a bonus, January 1st is a free day in State Parks, so this event is entirely free!
