After reviewing dozens of creative entries, we’re excited to announce the winners of our 2026 Golf Cart License Plate Design Contest!

This year, we selected multiple winning designs, each of which will be featured on official golf cart license plates throughout the 2026 season.

We were impressed by the creativity, community spirit, and hometown pride reflected in all of the submissions. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate and help make this program a success.

🚨 Community Alert: Power Outages & Downed Trees

The Old Saybrook Police Department is aware of multiple reports of power outages and downed trees throughout the area due to severe weather. Right now there are 487 residents without power. No Restoration time on the Eversource Hub.

⚠️ Please use caution when traveling:

⚠️ Avoid areas with downed trees, wires, and debris.
⚠️ Treat all downed power lines as live and dangerous—stay away and report them immediately.
⚠️ If traffic signals are out, treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
⚠️ Do not drive around barricades or through flooded roadways.

🚔 Police, Fire, and Eversource are actively responding to incidents and working to restore safe conditions.

Please avoid the following areas if possible!

🚫Middlesex Turnpike / Essex Town Line - Tree across road with wires.

🚫Nutmeg Circle - Tree with 4 Poles and wires down

On June 3, 2026 members of OSPD will be participating in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💨

The route was updated this year! We will start at the Monkey Farm, head down Main St past the Firehouse and continue towards Saybrook Point, turning right onto Bridge Stand will conclude in Fenwick.

Please come cheer us on!

Congratulations to Officer Egan on being named as the Old Saybrook Police Department’s Exchange Club “Salute to the Finest” Officer of the Year.

Since joining the department in September 2022, Officer Egan has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication, initiative, and a strong commitment to public service. He has established himself as a valued member of this agency and is highly respected by his fellow officers and supervisors alike.

Officer Egan exemplifies the values of teamwork, integrity, and service that are essential to effective law enforcement and this recognition is well deserved.
