Attended a Conservation Commission meeting last night and it was extremely interesting. I was very impressed on the engagement and energy this group brings. I urge residents to find a committee that interests them and get involved.

Hello OOB residents. Many at the Marsh workshop asked about information on the the Dredge. I am sharing info i just recieved from Justin Chenette.

Hey Guy! Thanks so much for reaching out.

Our York County Emergency Management team has been working with town officials on both beach replenishment and protection initiatives as well as possible dredge use.

A couple of updates:

· Town of OOB has signed an MOU with the county for dredge use https://www.pressherald.com/2024/04/15/york-county-dredge-agreement-signings-commence-outlining-way-forward/
o Minutes from the OOB council meeting on the topic can be found herehttps://www.oobmaine.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/TC-mtg-4.16.2024-Minutes-Approved.pdf #:~:text=This%20Memorandum%20of%20Agreement%20between%20York%20County,and%20record%20keeping%20of%20the%20dredging%20process.
· Beach replenishment planned for OOB coming up soon https://sacobaynews.com/old-orchard-beach-scheduled-for-beach-replenishment.htm
o York County EMA has been working with the town to obtain FEMA and Maine Emergency Management dollars to help cover the 1.2M cost.
o This will restore the dune system to protect against a category B storm along the coast in the area from Porter Road to New Salt Road in Ocean Park, and in the area from Morrison Avenue to Rosewood Avenue off East Grand Avenue.
· Dredge planned to be used for first time this season https://sacobaynews.com/dune-repairs-to-begin-in-november-with-york-county-dredge-beach-nourishmen.htm
o We are starting with S**o/Camp Ellis and Wells as those communities have gone through the Federal permitting process which can be quite extensive. That is required before we can use the dredge in any area.

I’ll check with our Director Art Cleaves around where we have left it regarding Goosefare Brook.

I’m rooting for you tomorrow! Hearing good things! You’d be great on the council and it would be wonderful to be able to work with you to strengthen the connection between the town and the county.

dredging and associated work like beach nourishment will commence in Wells and then move to Camp Ellis Beach in S**o

Just a few more days to the election. If you weren’t able to take advantage of absentee voting then you can head over to the high school on Tuesday and vote in person. It is very important to get involved and steer our town in the direction you want it to go. Your vote also sends a message. Whatever your views are, voting is your voice. Please Vote.

It was a very informative workshop last night involving the marsh health issues in Old Orchard Beach. There was a full house of residents and they voiced their concerns about the Flood Gate control and ways to mitigate flooding in the future. A repeated concern was the sand build up at the entrance to Goosefare brook. A lot of info was presented by Jamie Wallace of Wright Pierce. He also can be contacted at [email protected] and by phone at (207)798-3744.
I believe the next meeting will be on Nov 21.

12.5% of our state’s population relies on SNAP to put food on the table for their families.

In our immediate area: S**o, Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach, Buxton, and Hollis all have local food pantries that could use our help to meet this overwhelming need in addition to our York County Food Pantry in Alfred, which our commission recently saved to serve our entire region.

This is going to strain our entire system. Together, we can do our part to feed those in our community who are most in need. Find your local food pantry here:
