PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED: Hit & Run Investigation

​The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help with a motor vehicle crash investigation that occurred on Friday, August 21, 2026, at approximately 2:49 PM on Highway 79 near Brevator Road in Old Monroe.

​Suspect Vehicle Description:
​Vehicle: Early 2000s Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck
​Color: Dark blue
​Damage: Passenger-side front end damage
​Behavior: Witnesses reported the vehicle was driving recklessly northbound on Highway 79 both prior to and after the crash before fleeing the area.

​If you were in the area, have dashcam footage, or have any information regarding this vehicle or driver, please contact us immediately. Every detail helps!

Last night, Chief Marsonette, Sgt. Giamanco, and Officer Armistead attended the LETSAC (Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Council) awards banquet! Sgt. Giamanco was presented with the “People Saving People” award in the Public Safety Individual category, largely for his dedication to improving roadway safety and his work with 79Safe!

These officers gained valuable training this week while at the conference, as well as made important connections with many other agencies!

Highway C is closed at Jordan Rd, in both directions due to a vehicle crash. Plan for an alternate route.
