Lt. from the Old Fort Police Dept job well done. Wish you the best on your retirement. Enjoy it Brother much deserved.

This month we are honored to highlight a retiring officer who has dedicated his entire life to the service of others.

Lt. Joe Kidd will be retiring after a remarkable career marked by integrity, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his community.

Lt. Kidd served four years in the United States Army in the late 1990s before beginning his law enforcement career in 2002 with the Town of Montreat, where he served for three years. In 2005, he joined the Black Mountain Police Department and faithfully served the Town of Black Mountain for more than 20 years.

As Lt. Kidd enters his next chapter, we want to express our deepest gratitude for his dedication to this community and for his 28 years of total service to others.

One of the greatest highlights of Lt. Kidd’s career has been his ongoing contributions and dedication to our Cadet Program. Over the past seven years, Lt. Kidd has invested deeply in our youth, guiding, mentoring, and training high school and college students. Through his leadership, four young people have gone on to become outstanding police officers—an incredible legacy that will impact this department for decades to come.

Please take time this month to thank Lt. Joe Kidd for his devotion to this town and congratulate him as he steps into a well-earned season of endless fishing and hunting.

Enjoy your retirement Joe, it has been an honor to serve with you.
