KindCraft

KindCraft We are a family service group with a goal of providing families with opportunities to serve once a month. Wow! Why is this so important to me?

KindCraft is a family service group that we started in hopes of providing monthly service opportunities for families with kids of all age ranges. We wanted the focus to be on building a foundation of service and compassion for our children. What started as a simple blanket making project quickly grew and we were able to take 50-60 blankets to Children's Mercy in December. The January event was to

fill Toiletry Bags for Mission Southside. We were hoping to fill 50-60 bags for them and we ended up filling 245 bags!!!! KindCraft has grown beyond anything Courtney and I ever imagined and it is so exciting to see so many people that want to make a difference for someone else. It's important to me because our kids will follow our example...and if I am being honest here, I'm not always the best example. I will be the first to admit that I am way less then the perfect mom/wife. I constantly show them the not so great sides of me and often wonder how I am ever going to get this parenting thing right. Regardless of how many times I mess up, I want my kids to know love. Not only feeling loved, but how to share love as well. I want my kids to know that their parents love Jesus and are following his greatest commandment, to love Him and to love others. I want them to know how blessed they are. How carefree their life is compared to others. I want them to be able to see a need in the world and be moved to do something about it. We frequently listen to a song by Natalie Grant, Be One, and the some of our favorite lyrics are, "Why sit around and wait for a miracle to come, when we could be one!"
This group has amazed me. We may all have different reasons for serving & what we are hoping to teach our children, but we are all rallying together and serving to make a difference for someone else. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this group and hope it spreads like wildfire!

For our next event (Monday, September 14 at the Johnson County Central Resource Library), we are in need of volunteers who are willing to be table leaders!

You will be assigned a type of flower and you will lead your table in how to make it! This can be our Student Ambassadors, or any adult/teen volunteer!

We would like to have at least 10 volunteers! We will provide all of the supplies. Blooming with Gratitude

Please comment below or message us if you would be willing to help!

There’s something pretty special about kids getting to volunteer alongside their friends—having fun, being creative, and doing something meaningful for someone else at the same time.

Shoutout to the dads who volunteer with their kids! 💙

She told us her dad could help with the heavy rocks because “he goes to the gym every day.” 😂💪🪨

And sure enough… Dad was put to work! ❤️

We love seeing families serve together—and we especially love when our littlest volunteers know exactly who to call for the heavy lifting. 😂

Meet Lily. She’s been part of KindCraft since she was little—showing up with her family, wearing her KindCraft shirt, creating, serving and learning that even kids can make a difference.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of watching Lily grow up right alongside KindCraft. And now, she’s come back as a KindCraft Student Ambassador, helping the next generation of little KindCrafters experience the same thing she did. 🥹

When we started KindCraft, our hope was never just to give kids opportunities to serve for a day. We wanted to help raise a generation of compassionate kids who would grow up understanding the importance of giving back—and keep doing it.

Seeing Lily go from one of those little participants to a teenager choosing to serve and lead feels like that mission coming full circle. 💙

Little Rocks, Big Connections 💙

What an incredible night of creativity, connection and kindness!

34 KindCraft families came together to create 115 handmade rock sets that are now ready to make their way throughout our community!

Families created Tic-Tac-Toe sets, Memory Match games, Story Stones and Emotion Stones—each designed to do something a little different. Some encourage play and connection, while others can help children tell stories, express emotions, communicate and simply have a little fun.

Our families did it all! They cut and prepared tags, painted hundreds of rocks, created one-of-a-kind sets and packaged everything up to be given away. We loved seeing the creativity that went into every single one. ❤️

And now comes the best part—sharing them!

Our rock sets will be heading to schools, counselors and social workers, special education classrooms, play therapy and ABA services, nursing homes, foster care organizations, and other programs serving children and families.

And speaking of nursing homes… one of our favorite moments of the night came while we were talking with the kids about why we were making these sets. We asked, “What do people in nursing homes want?” and gave them a hint: “It starts with a V…”

Without missing a beat, one little KindCrafter shouted:

“UNICORNS!” 🦄😂

We were going for VISITORS… but honestly, maybe nursing homes need more unicorns, too. 💙

A huge thank you to our families, volunteers and Student Ambassadors who helped make the night possible!

🪨💙 Little Rocks, Big Connections!

KindCraft families will soon be creating handmade interactive rock activity sets designed to inspire play, conversation, creativity, and connection.

Families will be making:

🎲 Tic-Tac-Toe Sets
🐞 Memory Match Games
📖 Story Stone Kits
😊 Emotion Stone Sets

These special sets will be donated to organizations in our community where they can help children, seniors, and others play together, start conversations, use their imaginations, express feelings, and build meaningful connections.

If we have additional sets available after the event, we’d love to share them with local organizations that could put them to good use!

If you know of a school, therapist, senior living community, nursing home, library, hospital, nonprofit, or other organization that might benefit from these activity sets, please comment below or send us a message. 💙

We’ll connect with organizations after the event based on the number and types of sets available.

Because sometimes little rocks can create BIG connections. 🪨💙

🧱💙 “The path to happiness is laid with bricks of kindness.”

One small act of kindness may not feel like much on its own—but put enough of them together, and you can build something pretty incredible.

That’s what we get to see at KindCraft every month: kids and families showing up, helping others, and discovering that kindness really does build connection.

💬 What’s one small act of kindness someone has done for you that you still remember? Tell us in the comments—we’d love to hear it!

Keep laying those bricks. 💙
