**Marko is home. ❤️**

Marko, a 6-year-old indoor-only cat (Shawnee, KS), slipped outside after a very clever move from one of the other cats in the home. His owner was in full panic mode after trying everything she could to catch him herself.

She called KC Pet Search & Rescue early the next morning, and within a couple of hours, Richard was at her door helping build a real plan to bring Marko home safely.

Richard went above and beyond on this recovery. He conducted a search, walked the owner through the best recovery strategy, and gave her a plan when she needed one most. Meet Richard Jackson — Pet Recovery Specialist & Associate

KC Pet Search & Rescue is growing, and this one means a lot.

Richard Jackson is based in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and is now part of KC Pet Search & Rescue as a Pet Recovery Specialist & Associate. Richard brings more than 40 years of customer service, problem-solving, and people-first experience from the automotive industry — but his connection to KCPSR started in a much more personal way.

Richard’s story with KC Pet Search & Rescue started as a pet owner.

Richard first hired Jay and KCPSR when one of his own cats went missing. Like any pet owner, he wanted more than empty hope. He wanted a real plan, real effort, and the best possible chance of bringing his cat home.

When Richard saw the sincere desire behind the work, the thermal technology, the advanced baiting strategy, the cameras, traps, field tactics, and the amount of thought that went into every step of the recovery process, he immediately understood that KC Pet Search & Rescue was different.

He was not just sold on the idea that it might work for his cat.

He was sold on the process.

Richard saw a recovery approach that was structured, prepared, compassionate, and built around giving lost pets the best possible chance to come home. Within two weeks, his cat was successfully caught and safely home.

At that point, Richard was all in.

He knew he wanted to be part of something this unique — a business where reuniting pets with their owners is not just a service, it is the mission.

Since joining KC Pet Search & Rescue, Richard has already been part of several successful recoveries and continues to grow quickly in the field. He is also on his way to becoming a certified commercial drone operator, which will allow him to provide thermal drone search support for lost dogs and cats in the near future.

Richard is a devoted husband, father of two sons, proud grandfather, and a lifelong pet owner who understands that pets are not “just animals.” They are family.

Big things are happening.

What started as JOCO Pet Search & Rescue has grown far beyond what we ever imagined. Over the past several months, we’ve responded to lost pet emergencies across the entire Kansas City metro area — helping reunite lost dogs and cats with the families who love them.

Because of that growth, JOCO Pet Search & Rescue is beginning the transition into:

KC Pet Search & Rescue

This change reflects both our expanding mission and our expanding team.

We are also proud to announce the addition of a second field team member as we continue building a larger emergency pet recovery network throughout the Kansas City metro area. As call volume continues to increase, expanding our team allows us to respond faster, cover more territory, and assist more families during critical recovery situations.

Another successful weekend for JOCO Pet Search & Rescue. These 3 kitties are now safely back home with their families.

For those who follow our recoveries, you already know this is not your typical cat recovery service. We are committed to a structured process built around guidance, strategy, compassion, and action.

When owners contact us, they are often overwhelmed, exhausted, and emotionally drained. Our goal is to turn fear and anxiety into focused problem solving. We help owners understand behavior patterns, create a recovery plan, and stay engaged in the process every step of the way.

This is not just about getting a cat back home. It is about giving owners support, direction, transparency, and a real partner during one of the most stressful moments they may ever face.
