Unfortunately, I have been down with a back injury for about a month.
BUT today I am beginning PT and feeling quite a bit better.
HOWEVER. Zydeco is chomping to get back to training and searching!!!
AND I DON’T BLAME HIM!

Today I made a stop at the Tooth Fairy… also known as Dr. Greg Alton, DDS.

That stubborn root-canal tooth finally gave up the fight, and while my jaw is busy healing, Zydeco just gained a brand-new training aid — a genuine human tooth added to ZDawg’s scent collection.

It’s a strange way to turn an unpleasant appointment into something useful, but that’s the reality of HRD work. Every odd moment becomes a training opportunity.

Also learned something new today: the little black piece you might notice isn’t part of the tooth at all — it’s the flexible filler used during a root canal. Dentistry is a fascinating world, especially when you aren’t in the chair!

Wishing EVERYONE a Happy and great New Year of 2026.
I started the year off with the flu and a back injury.
However Cheryl, our pack Mama, is here to take over daily exercises and playtime with K9 Zydeco. I think he enjoys being “cool” riding around in Mama’s Challenger!
I know he is just as anxious as I am for me to get back into the pack to start working again!

I do not condone this behavior during training or operations, but there no way we weren’t gonna let ZDawg get excited for his Christmas gifts. Especially for being so well behaved, and listening and following commands.

Well, he IS a Heeler; so verbal commands are more like a request than an order. Like a teenager, you ask and wait to see if they listen or ignore you. :0
