Again, Okmulgee County and the City of Okmulgee are not the project coordinators and do not have any control over these closures.

Okmulgee County Work Week Weather Forecast

Monday, June 1 – Friday, June 5, 2026

Overview

The work week begins with summer heat and humidity across Okmulgee County before a weak cold front brings slightly cooler temperatures and increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms through the middle and latter part of the week. While widespread severe weather is not currently expected, periods of thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rainfall, lightning, gusty winds, and brief travel impacts.

Monday

Hot and humid conditions will continue with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid-90s and heat index values approaching or exceeding 100°F in some locations. Isolated thunderstorms may develop late in the day or during the evening. Residents working outdoors should remain hydrated and limit prolonged exposure during peak afternoon heating.

Tuesday

A weak frontal boundary approaches eastern Oklahoma, bringing increased cloud cover and a better chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Temperatures will trend downward slightly compared to Monday, but humidity will remain elevated. Lightning will be the primary concern with any storm development.
Wednesday

The National Weather Service Tulsa Forecast Office indicates cooler and somewhat less humid conditions behind the front. Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible, especially during the afternoon hours. High temperatures should remain in the low-to-mid 80s.

Thursday

An unsettled weather pattern develops with daily storm chances returning across eastern Oklahoma. Periods of sunshine will allow temperatures to recover into the upper 80s, while afternoon thunderstorms could become more numerous. Localized heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will be possible.

Friday

The highest rain chances of the work week appear to arrive Friday as additional moisture moves into the region. Thunderstorms may become widespread at times. Emergency managers, road crews, and outdoor event coordinators should monitor forecast updates for any changes regarding rainfall amounts and storm intensity.

* Hot conditions to start the week.
* Triple-digit heat index values possible Monday.
* Increasing thunderstorm chances Tuesday through Friday.
* Temperatures moderating later in the week as rain chances increase.

☀️ SUMMER HEAT SAFETY REMINDER ☀️

As temperatures rise across Okmulgee County, it’s important to take extra precautions to protect yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your pets from heat-related illnesses.

🌡️ Stay Safe This Summer by Following These Tips:

💧 Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, which can contribute to dehydration.

🌳 Limit Sun Exposure
When possible, stay in the shade and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, typically between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

👕 Dress for the Heat
Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing to help your body stay cool.

🚗 Never Leave Children or Pets in a Vehicle
Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can become deadly within minutes—even with the windows cracked.

⚠️ Know the Signs of Heat-Related Illness
Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, excessive sweating, or rapid heartbeat. If someone shows signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, seek medical attention immediately.

🤝 Check on Vulnerable Neighbors
Older adults, young children, and those with chronic medical conditions are especially vulnerable during extreme heat.

• Avoid alcohol when operating a boat or supervising swimmers.
• Check weather conditions before heading out and be alert for changing conditions.
• Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
• Stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat.
• Enter unfamiliar water feet first and be aware of underwater hazards.
• Keep a phone nearby in case of emergency and call 911 if needed.
