We're beyond thrilled to share that Chat Pile raised over $32,000 to support Sisu at their hometown album release show on Saturday. We're so grateful for their love of community and the way they showed up for our clients!

A huge thank you to all of the bands who came out to support unhoused youth: Portrayal of Guilt, Nightosphere, Traindodge, and Primal Brain (who also donated their guarantee for the show!)

And to our speakers who shared their passion for youth experiencing homelessness in our community: Stewart Harrison (Sisu board member), Julia Witcher (Sisu donor), Jessie Valadez (Arnall Family Foundation).

This incredible night served as a reminder of how powerful we are when we show up for unhoused youth. Thank you, Chat Pile, for this amazing opportunity!

Yesterday, we gathered with Betsy and Travis Roark, their family, and their friends to dedicate Grace's Kitchen at Sisu Youth Services, in loving memory of Grace Roark.

Together, more than 106 donors gave $127,000 to make this space real. Every meal served here will carry Grace's name. We are honored to be stewards of her memory, and grateful to the Roark family for entrusting us with it.

This week, our case managers, shelter staff, and program managers attended Family and Natural Support Training with Heidi Walter from A Way Home Canada.

This training teaches providers how to engage families, chosen families, and community connections to help stabilize young people and divert them from homelessness.

We're so grateful to Heidi for sharing this valuable information and evidence-based practice with our team!

September is Hunger Action Month, a national campaign held every September to raise awareness and inspire action to end hunger in America.

According to 2024 data from Feeding America, 157,590 individuals in Oklahoma County face food insecurity. Hunger can affect mental focus, energy, and academic performance, making already difficult tasks even harder.

Last year, Sisu provided more than 11,000 meals and served 336 youth across our programs. We know that when young people's bodies are nourished, they can focus on their goals.

You can support our clients directly by signing up for our meal train to feed the young people in our shelter and drop-in resource center at mealtrain.com/trains/no6dge or by donating snacks from our wish list: https://bit.ly/4qMtcvk

Last week, KOCO 5 News visited Sisu to meet Haley, a participant from our first WRAP Program cohort.

She told them the program didn't just teach her job skills; it gave her confidence.

Through our WRAP Program, we're helping young people experiencing homelessness find a career path and long-term stability, one conversation, one interview, and one step at a time.

SISU Youth Services in Oklahoma City is helping young people experiencing homelessness prepare for employment and stability through its workforce readiness academy.

The young people from our WRAP Program attended the Equal Employment Opportunity and Training Fair hosted by Diversion Hub and Oklahoma’s Workforce Board on Wednesday. The event helped them sharpen their interview skills, connect with potential employers, and explore the options available to them as they enter the workforce, helping them build confidence every step of the way!

Metro Tech was packed Wednesday, with people looking for a job, training, or a second chance. The goal was to connect people with barriers to employment, like transportation, disabilities, or makin…

On Tuesday, the young people in our WRAP Program had the chance to visit Diversion Hub to shop for interview outfits from Dress for Success Oklahoma City and The Men's Closet at The Representative to prepare for their upcoming job fair. Next, Twice The Cuts Salon and The Barbers Market MWC treated them to haircuts!

With the help of these wonderful partners, our clients looked and felt their best on job fair day and were ready to meet with employers!
