Leadership is learned through experience.

During the annual Army JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge at Camp Gruber Training Center, 80 cadets from across Oklahoma stepped outside their comfort zones to tackle leadership challenges, build teamwork and develop skills that will serve them for years to come.

The weeklong program included rappelling, map reading, land navigation, physical fitness and leadership instruction designed to build confidence and resilience.

Developing leaders is part of the Oklahoma National Guard mission and investing in young leaders strengthens Oklahoma's future and helps develop the next generation of citizens prepared to serve their communities and nation.

Throwback Thursday: On this day 82 years ago, Allied forces liberated Rome.

The Oklahoma National Guard’s 45th Infantry Division, alongside elements of the U.S. Fifth Army and Allied nations, helped secure the first Axis capital freed by the Allies during World War II.

That victory became part of the enduring legacy of Oklahoma’s Citizen-Soldiers—ordinary Americans who answered the call during one of history’s defining moments.

On June 12, Oklahomans will have the opportunity to experience that legacy firsthand during the grand opening of the Oklahoma National Guard Museum at its new location.

The story of the Thunderbirds is Oklahoma history. Come see it for yourself.
