Have you heard the news?!👀 The Jewel Theatre in Oklahoma City, OK has been renovated and is back in business!!🎉 They hosted a free outdoor screening of the short film “Freedom to Dream” by Kian Taylor on September 13th. Fun fact…this beauty is the last surviving historic Black cinema in OKC, and possibly the entire state! We are honored to be a 2025 grant recipient of the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund. Generous gifts such as this enable us to restore the Jewel Theater and reactivate it to tell both old and new stories of OKC’s Historic Eastside. We are excited to partner with organizations such as and continue to write the legacy of Black and African American culture. A special thanks to AACHAF, Director Brent Leggs, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and our architectural preservation partner Open Design Co. for this new partnership.
