Oklahoma Office of Disability Concerns Oklahoma state agency that provides information, referral and services to people with disabiities.

The Office of Disability Concerns (ODC) is an independent state
agency whose purpose is to help state government develop policies
and services that meet the needs of Oklahomans with disabilities. ODC staff is available to answer questions from individuals, to
identify available resources and services by phone, email, letter
and fax.The Office is staffed Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. ODC serv

es as a resource, to people with disabilities, who want to
present their views and recommendations to the Governor, the
State Legislature and State agencies.ODC supports two important
committees:

Governor’s Advisory Committee of People with Disabilities

Governor’s Advisory Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities

ODC is a technical resource from employment issues with
employment of people with disabilities and as a resource for
ADA compliance with design and implementation.

Camp Benedictine

Camp Benedictine is a year-round camp for children with developmental disabilities located in McCloud, Oklahoma some 30 miles east of Oklahoma City. Camp Benedictine was founded by Father Paul Zahler who is a monk at St. Gregory's Abbey. The camp offers lots of indoor and outdoor activities for all children with developmental disabilities regardless of religious persuasion. Camp Benedictine has a contract with the Developmental Disabilities Services Division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services to provide respite care for parents of children with disabilities. The 2025 Rx for Oklahoma Prescription Assistance Program application period has been extended. Apply in OKGrants by June 21, 2024.
The Oklahoma Department of Commerce (Commerce) is accepting applications across the state to implement and manage the Rx for Oklahoma Prescription Assistance Program from:
β€’ Local public and/or private nonprofit social service entities
β€’ County human service departments
β€’ County health departments
β€’ Community mental health centers
Rx for Oklahoma application information
A frequently asked questions (FAQ) document will be uploaded on the link above and revised regularly during the application period.
All grant applications must be submitted through OKGrants. Applications are due June 21, 2024.
The application contract term begins July 1, 2024 with 4 one-year options to renew (maximum of 5 years).
Technical assistance regarding application guidelines and information pertaining to the Rx for Oklahoma Prescription Assistance Program is available by contacting Kameelah Alexander at [email protected] or 405-243-2939.

OKC Parks to hire 100 people during summer hiring fair April 4

People aged 16 and up looking for a fun summer job with competitive pay are encouraged to attend a hiring fair from 1:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, 909 Frederick Douglass Ave.
OKC Parks is hiring pool cashiers, lifeguards and recreation leaders.
"We are excited to welcome new employees to our team as we gear up for summer," Recreation Program Coordinator Jamie Ewart said. "We are proud to offer competitive pay and hiring incentives to attract top talent."
Salaries for cashiers start at $12.50 per hour and pay for lifeguards starts at $13 and $15 per hour, depending on experience. Lifeguards can also qualify for a hiring bonus and incentive pay. The City’s goal is to hire 100 employees to work at five pools and 12 recreation sites.
Lifeguards
Those interested in becoming a lifeguard are encouraged to bring their swimsuit and a towel to the hiring event and take a basic swim test as a part of their interview. Prior lifeguarding experience not required. Applicants will receive free training, and those who pass the tests will receive their certification.
Those who don’t pass the tests will be considered for other pool positions.
Up to $1,000 incentive for lifeguards and $200 for cashiers
β€’ $100 – Hiring / Return Incentive for lifeguards and cashiers after completing training, orientation, and the first month of employment or are returning from a prior season and completing their first month of employment
β€’ $200 – Incentive for lifeguards who work the minimum number of hours listed during the period below:
o 50 hours from April 15-May 27
o 100 hours from May 28-June 30
o 100 hours from July 1-July 31
o 50 hours from Aug. 1-Labor Day Sept. 2
β€’ $50 – Referral incentive for current OKC Parks non-management employees who refer lifeguard applicants who complete training, orientation and their first month of employment. Referral must be listed by applicant on hiring paperwork.
β€’ $100 – End-of-season bonus for Lifeguards and Cashiers who work through Sept. 3.
β€’ Fifty cents – Hourly incentive for Lifeguards and Cashiers who work during a facility rental that occurs outside of public operating hours.
