Our City of OKC employees are the best in the country! Our annual survey of residents validates that statement, as we always receive ratings for city services that are much higher than the national averages. Today I joined City Manager Craig Freeman at OG&E Coliseum to celebrate our mission-focused team of 5,000 city employees that is making it all happen, as “One City, One Team”!

City of Oklahoma City - Government employees showed their generosity and community spirit by pledging over $613,000 to local charities through the 2025 Heart of the City charitable giving campaign.

Each year, employees come together to support their neighbors through this workplace campaign, which benefits Allied Arts OKC, CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the United Way of Central Oklahoma. Together, these federations represent hundreds of nonprofit organizations that provide food, housing, health care, arts, and educational programs to Oklahoma City residents.

“Oklahoma City employees raised more money for charity this year than ever before,” Assistant City Manager LaShawn Thompson said. “City employees go above and beyond every day — not just in their jobs, but in how they care for others. Their generosity and compassion reflect the heart of public service and the great pride they have in this community. In a year marked by economic uncertainty and personal challenges for many, their unwavering commitment to giving back is a powerful testament to the resilience and kindness that define our workforce.”

Of the 2,501 employees who contributed to the campaign, the average donation was $245. Departments also hosted fundraisers ranging from bake sales and raffles to silent auctions and lunchtime rallies, aimed at making a difference for families in need.

“The City of Oklahoma City’s Heart of the City campaign continues to set the standard for workplace giving,” United Way of Central Oklahoma President and CEO Rachel Holt said. “Their compassion and commitment make a real difference for thousands of Oklahoma families.”

The Heart of the City campaign runs each fall and is a proud tradition that showcases the kindness, teamwork and community commitment of Oklahoma City employees.
