City Rescue Mission

City Rescue Mission Because no one should have to do this alone.

For nearly 65 years, City Rescue Mission has been the first stop on the path back to hope, walking alongside our neighbors’ experiencing homelessness in Oklahoma City.

We’re grateful to be a recipient of a generous grant from Junior Hospitality Club, Inc. 🧡

Support like this helps make our work possible — from safe shelter and daily meals to case management and housing support for individuals and families working toward stability.

Because of partners like Junior Hospitality Club, more people in our community have access to the resources, support and encouragement they need as they take their next steps forward.

Thank you for believing in our mission and investing in brighter futures for our neighbors.

Feeling called to something bigger?
From day one to move-out day, our case managers walk alongside clients as they work toward stability.

Clients come to us from all kinds of situations. Some have experienced job loss. Some are leaving unhealthy environments. Some simply need support finding their next step.
No two stories are the same, which is why we often say: one size fits one.

Our case managers help clients navigate housing, paperwork, employment resources and the ups and downs that can come with rebuilding stability. They are there for hard conversations, big milestones and move-out day.

Right now, we are hiring:
• Case Manager
• Security

If you are looking for meaningful work and want to be part of helping people move toward their next chapter, we would love to hear from you.

Flashback Friday ⚡️

Game 7. Need we say more? 💙🧡

As all of OKC gets ready for a big game, we're thinking about all the ways the Oklahoma City Thunder have shown up for our community over the years.

These photos take us back to Thanksgiving 2009, when players spent time at City Rescue Mission serving meals, playing basketball with the kids and spending time with families staying at the Mission.

Fast forward to today and not much has changed.

From signing autographs to taking selfies, serving meals to spending time with kids, the Thunder have been good friends of the Mission for nearly two decades. Somewhere along the way, they even helped renovate our gym after City Rescue Mission became the team's local NBA Cares charity partner during the 2012 Finals run.

We're grateful for the ways this organization continues to invest in our community, both on and off the court.

Thunder Up. 💙🧡

Move out day is always a special day at City Rescue Mission. 🧡 It means someone is taking their next step toward a home of their own.

Kari and her son are getting ready to move into their new home, and one thing Kari is especially excited about? Cooking home cooked meals for the two of them in their own kitchen. Over time, they’ve worked hard to build stability, prepare for the future and get ready for this next chapter.

At the Mission, shelter is only part of the story. Families receive support, guidance and resources as they work toward housing and rebuilding their lives. And the support doesn’t stop on move-out day. Our case managers continue checking in and walking alongside families as they adjust to life in their new home because we know those first steps matter.

Congratulations to Kari and her son. We’re proud of all the hard work that brought you here. 🧡

Not all shelters work the same way.

Some operate as emergency shelters, where people come in for the night and leave in the morning without knowing if they’ll have a bed the next day.

Others are housing focused, where people can stay as they work toward something more stable.

- How long can someone stay at City Rescue Mission?
Vote 👍 for A or 🩷 for B. Answer is in the comments.

This Memorial Day, we remember the ones who gave everything—so we could have everything we sometimes forget to be thankful for: Safety. Home. Community.

As you gather with people you love today, we hope this day is a moment to breathe it in.

We’re grateful for those who served, and we’re grateful for a community that continues to show compassion and care to neighbors in need.

“I’ve always known about City Rescue Mission. Today, I found out what you actually do here.”

We hear it all the time after a tour.

Many people know City Rescue Mission as a shelter. What they’re often surprised to learn is that there’s so much more taking place every day.

Many people are surprised to learn that clients stay with us an average of 74 days as they work toward stable housing. During that time, they’re doing more than getting through the day. They’re sharing meals, meeting with case managers, rebuilding important documents, preparing for employment and connecting with resources that help strengthen families and create stability.

Because all roads lead to housing.

If you or your organization have ever wondered what happens here each day, we’d love to show you around. Come see firsthand how hope and stability are being built every day. 🧡

Give us a call to schedule a tour.

"Getting to serve clients on Thanksgiving Day with my family has been my favorite part of serving on the City Rescue Mission board." — Sarah Roberts

Sarah Roberts, Vice President of Programs at Inasmuch Foundation, serves on the City Rescue Mission Board of Directors, where she brings a strong commitment to collaboration, transparency and impact.

Sarah was inspired to get involved by City Rescue Mission’s President and CEO, Erin Goodin, whose steady leadership and forward-thinking approach continue to guide the Mission’s work.

During her time on the board, Sarah is especially proud of City Rescue Mission receiving a $2.5 million grant from the Bezos Day 1 Family Foundation — a moment that reflects the strength of the work happening here and the growing recognition of the organization’s impact beyond Oklahoma.

From emergency shelter to long-term stability, the focus remains clear — helping individuals and families build a stronger future.

Sarah believes that lasting change comes from focusing on what matters most.

"City Rescue Mission is centered on three things — faith, housing and income. The combination of these three components empowers individuals and families to create stability and sustainability for generations to come.”

Sarah, thank you for the leadership, service and heart you bring to City Rescue Mission.

MYTH: Getting a job is enough to stay out of homelessness.

The reality is more complicated.

Even full-time work at minimum wage often isn’t enough to cover basic housing costs. For many people, the gap between income and rent is simply too wide.

That’s why recovery and stability take more than just employment. It takes time, support and access to the right resources.

At City Rescue Mission, we walk alongside people as they work toward stable housing. That can look like help getting an ID, building a resume, preparing for interviews and taking the next step toward employment that can actually support long-term stability.

Work matters. And so does having a path forward.
