It's Fiction Friday! This week, we are featuring another wonderful book that you can find at the Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

"Not a Sound" by Heather Gudenkauf is about a woman named Amelia, who's life turned upside down when a car accident causes her to become Deaf. Her husband left her and she turned to alcohol. Two years later, she got sober and has a service dog, who helps her find the the body of a former friend and colleague. She and her dog begin investigating to bring a killer to justice.

Vocational Rehabilitation Technician Melinda Wilson was recognized for 30 years with DRS at the Commission meeting on June 10.

Wilson is a former DRS client. Her first position was as a receptionist at the State Office, where she worked for four years, followed by seven years as a visual service technician for the BEP Warehouse. Since 2007, she has been employed at the Norman Vocational Rehabilitation Office as a vocational rehabilitation technician.

According to her supervisor, Terrisha Osborne, Wilson is an enthusiastic fan of both the Thunder and OU. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the lake and fishing with her husband, Dean.

DRS' Jonathan Woodward, IT director and administrator, and central department services, was recognized for 25 years with the State at the Commission meeting on June 10.

Woodward began his public-sector career in the mid-1990s with the University of Oklahoma and later served with the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure. He joined the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, where he held several leadership positions before being recruited by OG&E to establish the company’s first Vendor Management Center of Excellence.

He then joined the Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services as an IT strategist manager, where he oversaw six IT Directors supporting 42 state agencies. In that role, he helped guide enterprise technology strategy, cloud modernization efforts and statewide collaboration initiatives. He also served on Oklahoma’s Enterprise Architectural Review Board.

Today, Woodward serves as the DRS information technology director, overseeing technology, contracts, purchasing, property management, travel and materiel management. Throughout his career with DRS, he has played a key role in agency technology decisions, generating significant cost savings and improving operational efficiency through streamlined processes and innovative solutions.

He was recently published in CIO Outlook magazine for his article on artificial intelligence and disability inclusion. He credits Sarjoo Shah and Randy Weaver as influential mentors who helped shape his professional journey. Above all, he values spending time with his wife and four children.

DRS Legislative Liaison Jennifer Hardin was recognized for 25 years with the State at the Commission meeting on June 10.

Hardin has dedicated 25 years to public service in Oklahoma state government. Since 2021, she has served as Legislative Liaison for the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, leading legislative strategy and serving as the agency’s primary point of contact with the Oklahoma Legislature.

Her career also includes service with the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where she began in 2001 conducting child abuse and neglect investigations.

Hardin is recognized for her ability to translate policy into action and for her lasting impact in advancing opportunities for Oklahomans with disabilities, children and families.

Congratulations Jennifer and thank you for all that you do!
