Big goals are easy. Building a roadmap to get there? That's the hard part.

This week, the OCCY Parent Partnership Board worked with Ed Long of MetaFund to turn vision into action through strategic planning and outcome mapping.

The focus wasn't on big ideas. It was on how to measure progress, stay accountable, and make sure the work delivers results for Oklahoma children and families.

These photos offer a glimpse into the conversations, collaboration, and problem-solving that are helping shape the next chapter of the Board's work.

Proof that not every meeting could have been an email. 🙃😉😄

Over two days in Tulsa, future Parent Café hosts spent time doing something we do not always make enough room for: listening, sharing experiences, and practicing how to lead conversations that help parents and caregivers connect with one another.

Through the Be Strong Families Parent Café model, participants learned how to create welcoming spaces where families can share experiences, build connections, and learn from each other.

Many photos show participants getting to know each other. Then came the small-group discussions, activities, and practice sessions. By the end of the training, participants were leading conversations themselves and preparing to bring Parent Cafés back to their own communities.

If you're wondering what Parent Café training actually looks like, the photos tell the story better than we can.

Thank you to everyone who participated and to Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma for hosting us. 💚💚💚

Recently, in Pawhuska, OCCY was grateful for the opportunity to speak with the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce and the Pawhuska Merchants Association about an issue that affects every Oklahoma community: protecting children and supporting families before a crisis becomes tragedy.

Conversations focused on preventable child deaths and near deaths in Oklahoma and the role local volunteers play in helping children in foster care find safety, stability, and permanency. Because children facing abuse or neglect often depend on adults outside their homes for support, community involvement can help change the course of a child’s future.

Thank you to the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce and the Pawhuska Merchants Association for welcoming these important conversations, and to Ashley Drummond for helping bring community partners together around the shared goal of protecting Oklahoma children. OCCY looks forward to continuing this work with communities across the state.

Have you ever felt like the people making decisions about families have never actually lived through the challenges families face? A lot of parents have.

That’s why OCCY’s Parent Partnership Board matters. It brings parents, caregivers, and community leaders together to share real experiences, talk honestly about what families need, and help shape better support for Oklahoma kids and communities.

On May 9th, parent leaders met to do just that: share ideas, plan for the months ahead, and continue conversations that can lead to real change. The photos shared here offer a look into those conversations and the people helping move this work forward.
