FLASH FLOOD WARNING – OKEECHOBEE COUNTY

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Okeechobee County until 10:00 p.m.

Thunderstorms have produced between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain, with up to an additional 1.5 inches possible. Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin shortly.

Areas that may be affected include:

* Treasure Island
* Okeechobee
* Four Seasons Estates
* Taylor Creek

Flooding may occur on streets, highways, underpasses and in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Turn Around, Don’t Drown!Never drive through a flooded roadway. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

Okeechobee County Announces Mosquito Spraying

Residents encouraged to take precautions during evening and overnight spraying operations.
Okeechobee County advises residents that Clarke Environmental Services will conduct scheduled mosquito control spraying operations in all zones, except Zone F, from Tuesday, August 25, 2026, through Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., weather permitting.
The spraying is part of Okeechobee County's ongoing mosquito control program to help reduce mosquito populations and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.
Residents within the designated treatment areas may wish to take the following precautions during spraying operations:
• Remain indoors when possible while spraying is underway.
• Close windows and doors if desired.
• Bring pets indoors or provide fresh water after spraying.
• Cover or move outdoor items such as pet food, toys, or dishes.
Spraying will only occur if weather conditions are favorable. Rain or high winds may require operations to be delayed or rescheduled.
Residents are encouraged to review the accompanying mosquito control zone map to determine whether their property is located within the zones scheduled for treatment.

Okeechobee County Announces Mosquito Spraying in Zone A

Residents encouraged to take precautions during evening and overnight spraying operations.

Okeechobee County advises residents that Clarke Environmental Services will conduct scheduled mosquito control spraying operations in Zone A from Wednesday, August 12, 2026, through Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., weather permitting.

The spraying is part of Okeechobee County's ongoing mosquito control program to help reduce mosquito populations and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.

Residents within the designated treatment areas may wish to take the following precautions during spraying operations:
• Remain indoors when possible while spraying is underway.
• Close windows and doors if desired.
• Bring pets indoors or provide fresh water after spraying.
• Cover or move outdoor items such as pet food, toys, or dishes.

The spraying is part of Okeechobee County's ongoing mosquito control program to help reduce mosquito populations and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.

Residents within the designated treatment areas may wish to take the following precautions during spraying operations:

• Remain indoors when possible while spraying is underway.

Okeechobee County Emergency Management is monitoring Tropical Depression #2, which is forecast to move westward along the northern Gulf Coast this week.

At this time, no significant impacts are expected across East Central Florida from this system. However, forecasts can change, and residents are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring trusted weather sources for the latest updates.

Residents in Zone D encouraged to take precautions during evening and overnight spraying operations.

Okeechobee County advises residents that Clarke Environmental Services will conduct scheduled mosquito control spraying operations in Zone D (Southwest Section of Okeechobee County) on the following dates, weather permitting:

• Wednesday, July 15, 2026
• Thursday, July 16, 2026
• Time: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

The spraying is part of the County's ongoing mosquito control program to help reduce mosquito populations and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses.

Residents in the designated treatment area may wish to take the following precautions during spraying operations:

• Remain indoors when possible while spraying is underway.
• Close windows and doors if desired.
• Bring pets indoors or provide fresh water after spraying.
• Cover or move outdoor items such as pet food, toys, or dishes.
The application will only take place weather permitting, as rain or high winds may require the schedule to be adjusted.

Residents are encouraged to review the accompanying map to determine whether their property is located within Zone D, the area scheduled for treatment.
