The Village of Okawville would like to inform citizens about an increased enforcement of Ordinance Violations this spring. The village is dedicated to ensuring community safety, maintaining property standards, and preserving public order. This initiative will specifically focus on regulations of property maintenance and parking.
Grass and weeds must be shorter than 8" at all times.
Grass cannot be blown onto sidewalks or onto the streets when cutting.
The burning of yard waste only is allowed between the hours of 10 AM and sunset; no burning is allowed along curbs, in ditches, on sidewalks, or on streets. All leaves, sticks, etc should be dry when burning, and an adult must be present as long as there is a fire. There is also a place to take yard waste north of Okawville (Waterworks Road) about a mile and half past the interstate.
All vehicles must be licensed, titled, insured, and road worthy.
Issues related to property maintenance, such as the accumulation of junk and debris, overgrown grass and vegetation, and the presence of inoperable, abandoned, disassembled, or dilapidated appliances, machinery, or vehicles, will not be tolerated. Violations may result in a minimum fine of $100. For a complete list of the Village Ordinances, please visit: www.myokawville.com
