In 1973, two Berkeley hippies in jeans and Birkenstocks, arriving in a beat-up car, called a realtor about a sheep ranch in the Anderson Valley. He joked they could have two acres for a teepee. They said: we'll take all 900.

Ted Bennett and Deborah Cahn had met two years earlier and fallen in love with w**e, land, and the dream of growing something real. Ted had just sold his chain of stereo stores to CBS. Deborah was an English grad student. Neither had ever farmed a day in their lives.

But they did it anyway: They built a tasting room by hand from three redwood trees on the property. They mastered Gewürztraminer, then Pinot Noir, then a dozen more. Their first restaurant account was Chez Panisse, just a few blocks from their Berkeley house, and Alice Waters has been pouring Navarro ever since.

Their children, Aaron and Sarah, grew up on those 900 acres. Now they run the place. Ted and Deborah still walk the vineyards every day, still write the tasting notes, and watch their grandchildren start to find their own small roles in the work.

Fifty years in, Navarro is still a family farm. Still in the Anderson Valley. Still not Napa.

We just love this origin story! So we are very honored to introduce their w**es to the Ojai Valley for the very first time. Come find Navarro Vineyards at Taste of Ojai. 🍷

After two decades in the fashion world Misty traded the runway for the Ojai sunshine, chasing balance, motherhood, and a good green juice.

But “tranquil life”? Not quite her style. 😉�Fueled by boundless energy and heart, Misty created CommunityJuice - her way of bottling up everything she cherishes: health and wellness, family and community, curiosity and learning, and of course… FUN!

For nearly 30 years, Jim & Rob's Fresh Grill has been serving Ojai straight-up food with a side of smiles.

Their Ojai roots run as deep as the valley oaks, and their humor’s just as homegrown - from the legendary shirts that declare “Last night a taco saved my life” and “In dog b**rs, I only had one,” to the infamous “You taco to me?” that’s made locals grin (and groan) for decades.

But behind the jokes beats a big-hearted spirit. When their 25th anniversary rolled around, they donated a full day’s proceeds to the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy - because that’s what neighbors do.
