Ever wondered how an idea moves from community input City Council action?

City decisions follow a public and transparent process designed to give the community an opportunity to stay informed and participate along the way.

1. An issue or idea may come from community feedback, City Council direction or staff research.

2. City staff evaluates the proposal, including potential legal, financial, operational and environmental considerations, and prepares information for City Council consideration.

3. When an item is ready for City Council consideration, the staff report and supporting materials are posted with the public meeting agenda in accordance with applicable noticing requirements.

4. Staff presents the item, the public has an opportunity to provide comment and Council discusses and considers the matter.

5. Council may approve, modify, provide additional direction or take no action on the proposal. When approved, staff moves forward with the appropriate steps.

Your participation is an important part of the process. Review upcoming meeting agendas and submit public comments at Ojai.CA.gov/525/2968/Public-Meetings. πŸ”—
