The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has declared a portion of the state to be classified as a Level 1 Drought Condition. The City of Oglethorpe falls in this classification and since we supply public water, we are required to begin a public awareness campaign to help citizens understand how drought impacts our water supply and the need for water conservation. The following are some tips on how residents and businesses can help conserve water:
1. Regularly check for water leaks, both inside and outside of your home, and get them repaired.
2. Limit your time in the shower and turn the tap off when brushing your teeth, shaving, etc.
3. Run the washing machine/dishwasher only when you have a full load.
4. Do not water your landscape during the hottest part of the day and make sure sprinklers are adjusted only to water your lawn.

We urge everyone to conserve water by any reasonable means, and we THANK YOU for your help in conserving our water.
