We'd like to take a moment to say THANK YOU to the person that donated this cute handmade cat to Ogden Police UT! This cat has made it's way back to Ogden Animal Services where we have lovingly named him Sheldon! Sheldon's tag is an Adoption Tag from the Ogden City Animal Shelter that closed in 2010. Watch for more photos of Sheldon as we take him on some of our adventurous days!

⚠️ This is your reminder: 10 minutes is NOT just 10 minutes when your dog is in a hot car. ⚠️

Watch the video and see exactly how fast the temperature inside a vehicle rises in just 10 minutes. It's dangerous, it's fast, and it happens more than it should.

This summer we're asking everyone to please leave your pets at home. No errand, no quick stop, no matter how short you think it will be, is worth your dog's life. 🐕❤️

If you see a dog left in a hot car please call us.

Our favorite way to keep your pet's paws safe during the summer, also happens to be incredibly stylish 👢✨! We would love to see your fabulous pets wearing their protective-booties (or any other protective gear)! Please share your favorite pics in the comments!

Summer is in full-swing! During this time of year it is important for pet owners to safely and responsibly enjoy their time out on-the-town with their animals. When taking them out into public, your animal's paws can be exposed to hot pavement, glass or other hazardous material that could cause them injury.

Keep these preventative measures in mind!:

✨ Pay attention to your surroundings and what your pet might be walking on/around!
✨ Wear protective boots to avoid any paw-related injuries!
✨ Avoid black-top/asphalt! (Keep to shaded areas or grass!)
✨ Avoid the hottest part of the day!
✨ Consider carrying your pet or using a stroller/wagon!
✨ Pay attention to your pet's body language! (Lifting feet off the ground rapidly, Shifting weight, General discomfort)
✨ Gauge the temperature of the ground with the back of your hand! (If its too hot for you to keep it planted, its too hot for your pet!)

As a friendly reminder, Ogden City Animal Services Officers patrol the Ogden City Famer's Market most Saturdays to check the temperature of the road! In order to make sure your pets are comfortable and safe, Officers may ask you to leave the main road with your pet to walk on cooler portions of 25th Street if the temperatures become too hot.

Stay safe out there, have fun, and show us your booties!

Ogden City invites all dog-owners to utilize our designated off leash dog parks. We currently have two locations where you can take your dogs to run and play!

As a reminder, these two locations are the only off-leash areas allowed in Ogden City, all other public parks, trails, and spaces require your canine companion to be properly leashed!

Thank you! - Ogden City Animal Services
