For your awareness, the Utah Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) will conduct a statewide TEST of the AMBER Alert system on Thursday, April 3, between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. This test is part of an upgrade to align the system with modern national standards and verify its integration with FEMA’s Emergency Alert System (EAS).

What to Expect:
A TEST AMBER Alert notification will be sent statewide to mobile devices, TV, radio, and highway message boards.

The alert will include a distinct tone and vibration on mobile devices, similar to a real AMBER Alert.

The message will clearly state that it is a TEST and that no action is required.

Welcome back to campus, Wildcats!

SLOWWWW DOWN! Expect tickets for exceeding 15-25 mph through campus, nearby neighborhoods

Weber State and Ogden City police are coordinating efforts to ensure public safety on and around campus with a particular focus on speeding. As the new school year begins, be aware that they will issue tickets to those speeding through campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.

DEE EVENTS CENTER PARKING LOT

Speed limit is 15 mph, as are all Weber State parking lots

NEIGHBORHOODS

Speed limit is 25 mph. Police are keeping an especially close eye on Taylor Avenue, which runs north and south between Stewart Stadium and the Dee Events Center. Speed indicators have been placed on Taylor Avenue to remind drivers to slow down on the residential street

OGDEN AND DAVIS CAMPUS

Speed limits range from 15–25 mph, and are posted on all campus streets

With school starting, drivers should expect to see more pedestrians — including children — on our roads, which can increase the risk of auto-pedestrian accidents. According to a recent KSL article, the number of auto-pedestrian accidents last school year skyrocketed to 990, including 34 deaths.

Please, let’s keep our campus safe. WATCH YOUR SPEED and SLOW DOWN!
