I don't typically post these kind of things, because I typically think they're really corny. BUT....after the conversations I've been having the last year at Open Hand Ministry and even more so recently, this is really appropriate.

So many people decide -for a moment -that they're going to get serious with Jesus but as soon as they walk out the door with Bible in hand ready to look into what it means to follow Christ and commit their lives to Him, their phone rings and the next thing you know the world has got them again. It's as if people can't see. What he's talking about here is the basic same thing that I been discussing with people week after week, year after year and decade after decade.

Exactly the same thing that Jesus speaks of in three of the four Gospels regarding the parable of the soil (or the parable of the sower). All representing different responses to the kingdom message.

And remember, to not make a decision is to make a decision.

In our ministry devotion time, before we open the doors, we've often talked about how God is so faithful to us-- not only in the ministry but to each of His children, and the world at large.

I don't want to walk by without thinking Him for what He's doing but so often I still do.

Today when I opened up my email I saw this.
The first thing I thought of was how faithful He is. Open hand is expensive. REAL expensive. I don't know how He does it, but He does!! (And has been for over 21 years ❤️)

I want to stop and acknowledge Him; whether this had been $2 or $1,000, He's able to make it work for His purposes.

I am thankful.

A succinct, polite 5 minute video on some of the major differences between Mormonism and biblical christianity. Yes, it's worth the discussion. The object of your faith is of eternal significance.

I promise I am not trying to be antagonistic. Truly. I'm concerned🥺.

Last night as we were in an intense study of chapter 7 of Hebrews at bible study, this became glaringly apparent, and especially to those that are in our Bible study that had left Mormonism for the one true God.

Anyone who's ever studied the book of Hebrews knows that the whole first seven chapters (well, actually the whole book) of Hebrews clearly talks about how we CAN NEVER BE LIKE JESUS . That Jesus is better than the angels, Jesus is better than Moses, Jesus is the Creator, Jesus is THE standalone, ONE-OF-A-KIND eternal high priest.

The LDS have twisted this--soooo much scripture twisting! Putting in words to make it say what they want it to.

FALSE: Anyone who receives this Melchizedek priesthood can become a high priest forever, like Jesus!!

These lies lead to eternal separation😢

The Faithfulness of God never ceases to amaze.

Over the last few weeks, far above our normal Christmas donations, we have received things that we did not see coming. (Normally that means there's something coming up that we don't know about, so we'll see 😉).

Besides a few medical and dental offices (that I wasn't even aware of) donating food, we've also had the Christian director from the Morgan Food Bank bring some excess food over to us from a food drive they did (we built a partnership!), plus a sweet donor brought us a bunch of toilet paper that we had no idea about!

We've had so many things going on this year where God has just shown His faithfulness, His provision, and His love. 💜🩷❤️

He is amazing✝️

As I was doing my Bible study this morning, this picture came up as I was looking up a reference. It's very similar to a picture in an old book called "Men, Ships and the Sea" that I loved to sit and devour when I was child in the 60s.

That book of my dad's sits here in my study to this day (and may be one of the reasons I have a fear of the ocean!)

Long before I knew Christ, even as a kid, I knew we were all one step away from eternity....whether going down in the icy seas of the north Atlantic, or stepping into eternity by an unforeseen or unexpected event.

When I was 27, after years of being TERRIFIED to die, I surrendered to Him and have never been the same. You can't fix yourself, and your attempts to do so are useless - the Bible is very clear. There's not a single thing you can do to earn His favor but trust Him. ALONE.

If you have to work for it (or if you are saved by grace after all YOU can do), it wouldn't be grace.

This world is a mess. POLITICS CAN'T FIX IT. Do you know how to escape this sinking ship?

Please be praying that Open Hand would always rest comfortably in the provision that God has ALWAYS provided. He truly is amazing.

When we look around and see what's going on, with people crying out for help and their (understandable) fear, It would be easy for us to lose sight of the One who is in complete control.

Please pray for Open Hand; that we can not only provide the food for those that come in, but we can show them the Great Provider of everything-- Who loves them!

Please pray for wisdom, discernment, and the ability to see people as He does... That we would have a heart for them and understand their fear and anxiety.
