The Big Boy is coming back! 🚂

Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 is the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, at 133 feet long and weighing 1.2 million pounds, and it is making its way back to Ogden this weekend. You can see the Big Boy for yourself at Ogden’s Historic Union Station on Saturday, April 18th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 19th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Of 25 Big Boys commissioned exclusively for Union Pacific Railroad in the 1940’s, 8 remain — with No. 4014 being the only running Big Boy. They operated primarily between Ogden, Utah and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The sun is coming out, the trees are green, and the flowers are blooming here on 25th Street. 🌷🌳

We are getting excited for sunny strolls to shop our local stores, patio lunches at our local restaurants, concerts at the amphitheater, markets on Saturday mornings, and as always, a lovely view. ☀️

Tomorrow, February 6th, Ogden will celebrate its 175th birthday at Union Station during the First Friday Art Stroll.
🚂🖼️

The Museums at Union Station will be free from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and visitors can listen to live music and participate in activities.
As a one-night-only special, historical documents will be on display for Ogden to view and learn about the history and legacy of the Junction City.
