CASA of the Permian Basin Area, Inc. Recruits, trains, and supervises community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children

CASA of the Permian Basin Area provides advocacy for children in the foster care system from Crane, Ector, Loving, Ward and Winkler Counties in Texas. CASA Volunteers are compassionate, committed, everyday people - teachers, businessmen and women, retirees, stay-at-home parents and grandparents. CASA Volunteers undergo extensive training prior to working with a child, ensuring they are well-equipp

ed to serve as a voice for abused and neglected children. CASA Staff provides ongoing support and guidance for our volunteers. Unfortunately, there are many abused and neglected children in the Permian Basin Area without a CASA Volunteer. Visit our website at www.casapba.org to learn more about our agency and how you can help through donations, attendance of community events, and/or becoming a CASA Volunteer.

☀️ Hello, Summer! ☀️

Today marks the first official day of summer — a season filled with sunshine, memories, and new adventures.

While many children are enjoying summer break, children in foster care still need stability, encouragement, and caring adults who continue to show up for them.

At CASA of the Permian Basin, our advocates work year-round to ensure children have a voice, support, and hope for a brighter future.

💙 This summer, you can help make a difference in a child’s life.

📚 CASA Advocates Never Stop Learning 💙

CASA advocates are committed to growing their knowledge so they can better serve the children they advocate for every day.

Throughout the year, advocates complete 12 hours of continuing education on important topics such as:

⚖️ The juvenile justice system
🛑 Human trafficking awareness
🗣️ Effective advocacy skills
💙 Trauma-informed care
👨‍👩‍👧 Family dynamics and child development

Every training helps advocates become stronger voices for children in foster care.

At CASA of the Permian Basin, we believe learning leads to better advocacy — and better advocacy changes lives.

💙 Serving Ector County Since 1988 💙

For more than 35 years, CASA of the Permian Basin has been standing beside children who have experienced abuse and neglect — ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests remain the priority.

Through the dedication of CASA advocates, staff, donors, and community supporters, countless children in foster care have received advocacy, stability, and hope during difficult times.

While much has changed over the years, one thing remains the same: every child deserves a safe, permanent, and healthy future.

Thank you, Permian Basin, for continuing to support the mission of CASA.

☀️ Summer & Mental Health Matter ☀️

For many children, summer means fun, freedom, and vacations. But for children in foster care, summer can also bring uncertainty, loneliness, and increased anxiety.

Without the routine of school, many children lose daily structure, trusted adults, and emotional support systems they depend on throughout the year.

That’s why consistent, caring adults matter so much.

CASA advocates help provide stability, encouragement, and connection during difficult seasons — reminding children they are seen, heard, and valued.

💙 Sometimes the greatest support a child can receive is simply knowing someone continues to show up for them.

💭 MYTH vs. FACT 💙

❌ Myth: You have to be a lawyer or social worker to become a CASA advocate.

✔️ Fact: CASA advocates come from all walks of life! Teachers, retirees, parents, college students, healthcare workers, business professionals, and community members can all become advocates. CASA provides the training and support you need.

❌ Myth: You have to know everything about the child welfare system.

✔️ Fact: You just need compassion, consistency, and a willingness to speak up for a child.

One caring adult can make a life-changing difference for a child in foster care.

🌟 Mid-Year Volunteer Recruitment 🌟

Halfway through the year, the need for CASA advocates continues.

Children in foster care in the Permian Basin still need caring, consistent adults to stand beside them — in court, in school, and through life’s hardest moments.

As a CASA advocate, you can help ensure a child’s voice is heard and their best interests remain the priority.

💙 You don’t need a legal background.
💙 You don’t have to be perfect.
💙 You simply have to care.

This could be the moment you decide to change a child’s story.

As you head into this new week, remember:

Kindness matters.
Consistency matters.
Advocacy matters.

Children may not remember every word spoken to them — but they will remember who stood beside them.

💙 CASA Advocate Fact 💙

CASA advocates are specially trained volunteers appointed by a judge to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

They visit children regularly, speak with teachers and caregivers, attend court hearings, and help ensure a child’s needs are not overlooked.

Most importantly, they provide consistency, encouragement, and a voice for children during uncertain times.

You don’t have to have all the answers to become a CASA advocate. You simply have to care.

There are children in Ector County right now waiting for someone to advocate just for them.

Not someday.
Right now.

Could that someone be you?

Today in CPS court, only 28% of children had a CASA advocate.

That means more than 70% of children faced critical decisions about their future without a dedicated volunteer advocating solely for their best interests.

Without a CASA, children may miss having a consistent voice in court, someone who knows their story, monitors their well-being, and helps ensure their needs are not overlooked.

Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and advocated for.

Help us change that.
