Tomorrow is the day! We will be open early starting at 8am! Stop by to grab merch or a cold soda and hang out to watch the Hot Rod Tour go by! On Tuesday June 9th between 8:00 & 9:00am the Hot Rod Power Tour 2026 will be making their way through Odell on Route 66 with nearly 5000 cars! They are running on a schedule, but we are hopeful with signage they may find their way into the Historic Gas Station for a short visit. Even if they do not have the time, we would like to give them a warm welcome and best wishes on their travels!

We are asking for those interested to make their way towards the walking path or surrounding areas on Tuesday the 9th with signs to welcome them to our small town and enjoy the parade of cars! Please do so with caution as to avoid impeding traffic or causing any safety issues!!

The Standard Oil Gas Station in Odell, Illinois, was built in 1932. The building design was from 1916 and was called a domestic-style gas station. Over time, it sold Sinclair and Phillips 66 products. The two-bay garage was added in the 1940s. It sold gas until the 1960s and closed in the 1970s. In 1997, it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places and went through restoration. Today, the station is a welcome center on Route 66.

Hi! Welcome to the new Standard Oil Gas Station page! My name is Madison Grundler, and I am the new liaison for the Historic Gas Station in Odell! I hope to make this page about all thing's tourism, fun facts, and sharing experiences from those who have visited! Be on the lookout for some more information!

First fun Fact!

This station was built in 1932, with the 2 bays having been added on at a later date. By the 1940s the station was selling Phillips 66 Gas and in 1952 was owned by Bob Close. By the 1970s the station had closed as there was a decline in the use of Route 66 due to the construction of I55.
