The City of Oconomowoc Police Department, Village of Lac La Belle Police Department, Oconomowoc Lake Police Department, Village of Summit Police Department, and Western Lakes Fire District are sponsoring a Citizens Police Academy. We invite and encourage you to apply to learn more about your local police and fire departments. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

This course is NOT a certification; rather, it is designed to educate the public as to the day-to-day operations of your local police and fire departments. Some of the course sessions will include interactive hands-on participation. You are not obligated to participate in the physical aspects of the course if you choose not to. This course is an educational, informational perspective of policing, which will allow you to get to know the men and women who serve your communities.

Interested? Apply today:

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Today we take a moment to recognize and thank the dedicated men and women who serve in law enforcement. Their commitment to protecting our community, often behind the scenes and at all hours, does not go unnoticed.

The Village of Lac La Belle Police Department is proud to serve this community, and we are grateful for the continued support we receive from our residents, families, and partners. Your trust and encouragement mean more than you know.

Thank you to all law enforcement officers for your professionalism, service, and dedication to keeping our communities safe.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month

Human trafficking is not just an international issue. It happens here in Wisconsin and in communities like ours. Every county in the state has seen trafficking-related offenses, and the I-94 corridor between Chicago and Minneapolis is one of the highest traffic areas in the country.

To help raise awareness and provide education, we encourage the public to attend a community
Human Trafficking Awareness Event:
๐Ÿ“ Smoke on the Water โ€“ Okauchee, WI
๐Ÿ“… January 18, 2026
โฐ 2:00 PM โ€“ 3:30 PM

The event will cover what human trafficking looks like, how to recognize the signs, available resources, and current efforts to combat trafficking locally and statewide.

๐ŸŽค Keynote Speaker: Jamie Counsell, forensic nurse examiner and recent TEDx speaker
๐ŸŽค Special Guest Speaker: Rep. Barbara Dittrich, member of the Speakerโ€™s Task Force on Human Trafficking

The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome and will support local resources assisting victims of human trafficking. Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, attendees under 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Creating awareness is a critical step in protecting our community.

As we welcome 2026, please remember that although the County and Village Highway Departments are actively maintaining the roads, conditions remain very slippery. If you plan on traveling this evening, slow down and drive with caution.
If you are celebrating the New Year, please do so responsibly and do not drink and drive. Our officers will be out on the roads tonight to help ensure everyone gets home safely.

We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and Happy New Year.

Officer Savaglia (pictured right) and Officer Snyder (pictured left) had a great time participating in Shop with a Cop this morning. It was an awesome opportunity to connect with the community and help make the day a little brighter for those involved. Weโ€™re proud to be part of such a meaningful event and appreciate everyone who helps make it possible.
