School's OUT for summer — and WLFD was there to celebrate!

Our firefighters joined students and staff for end-of-year picnics and sent kids off on their last ride of the school year. Seeing those smiles makes every shift worth it.

Have a fantastic summer, everyone. We'll be here keeping the community safe all season long!

Please stay weather-aware this afternoon through Thursday, as the National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for severe thunderstorms across our area over the next several days.

Make sure you have access to a reliable method of receiving weather warnings, such as a cell phone with emergency alerts enabled or a NOAA Weather Radio. Remember that outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors and should not be relied upon as your primary means of receiving severe weather warnings.

Take a few moments to review your severe weather plan and identify where you will seek shelter if conditions deteriorate. Staying informed and prepared can make all the difference when severe weather strikes.

Weather Siren Maintenance Notice

Residents of the Merton and Stone Bank areas:

Please be advised that a technician will be performing scheduled maintenance on the outdoor warning siren located in the Stone Bank area today.

As part of the testing and maintenance process, the siren may sound intermittently. If you hear the siren during this time, there is NO emergency and no action is required.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure our emergency warning systems remain operational and ready when needed.
