On 09/20/2024 SCDTF Agents, the Ocilla Police Department, Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, and State Police executed two search warrants in Irwin County. During the ex*****on of both warrants, amounts of a crystal like substance, (suspected Methamphetamine) were recovered. Drug paraphernalia, digital scales, a firearm, and an amount of U.S. currency were seized as well. Three individuals have been arrested in the case and more arrests are likely. The South Central Drug Task Force will be taking sealed bids on a seized lot of property and a Fleetwood mobile home located at 908 N. Union Street, Ocilla, GA. The auction will end on September 11th, at 5:00pm. Stop by the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office to fill out a bid form if interested. See attached photo for details on property.

On the evening of 07/15/2024 SCDTF Agents, State Police, and the Coffee County Drug Unit went to a residence on the East Side of Irwin County. Upon making contact with the occupants, a search of the residence was conducted. Over 22 grams of a crystal like substance (suspected methamphetamine) was recovered along with a set of digital scales, packaging materials, and smoking devices. Angela “Holiday” Cumbass and David Cumbass were taken into custody and are both being charged with methamphetamine related offenses. The SCDTF has made 11 arrests in the past 7 days including 6 wanted persons, multiple trafficking and possession with intent cases, and will investigate any tips provided. On the evening of 07/11/2024, South Central Drug Task Force agents, the Ocilla Police Department, and State Police executed a search warrant on East 5th Street, in Ocilla, GA. During the ex*****on of the warrant, Stanley Holcomb a.k.a. “Chill” was taken into custody. A further search of the residence revealed that there were over 84 grams of suspected co***ne/crack co***ne, over 68 grams of tablets composed of suspected methamphetamine and co***ne, and a bag filled with tablets which weighed over 8 grams and were composed of suspected fentanyl. A set of digital scales, packaging material, a loaded firearm, and an amount of U.S. Currency was also seized into evidence. It was found that the case was connected to a local criminal street gang known as the “Gangsters Disciples”. A furtherance of the investigation led agents to a subject known as Chadney Edwards which was found to have an outstanding felony probation warrant. The citizens of Irwin County don’t want these types of substances distributed throughout the community nor available to the young people which live here. On the afternoon of July 1st, 2024, the South Central Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on the North East Side of Ocilla. The operation was a collaborative effort between the SCDTF, the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Fitzgerald Ben Hill Gang Unit, and State Police. During the search, a loaded AR-15 with a drum magazine with 30 live rounds, a set of digital scales in working order, over 54 grams of suspected high grade ma*****na, and U.S. Currency were seized. The investigation revealed that multiple juveniles were coming and going from the residence and both the drugs and gun could have easily gotten into hands of one of the kids. The SCDTF strives to combat criminal activity in areas where juveniles are influenced by adults to be involved in illegal drugs and gangs. One offender has been arrested in the case. The offender was found to have an outstanding warrant through the Department of Community Supervision. Multiple warrants involving the illegal firearm and controlled substances have been taken in the case. On the morning of 05/17/2024, an investigation stemming from a child abuse complaint led the Ocilla Police Department to a residence on the North West side of the city. The South Central Drug Task Force along with the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, the GA Department of Natural Resources, and the GA Department of Agriculture assisted. The South Central Drug Task Force developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant for drugs. During the search, 26 amounts of suspected ma*****na were recovered which weighed over 244 grams. Over 35 grams of suspected bath salts, suspected co***ne, and over 97 grams of tablets which field tested for the presence of methamphetamine and co***ne were recovered. At this time three individuals have been arrested and more arrests are likely. The SCDTF appreciates the community’s assistance in pointing out where drug distribution is taking place. On the evening of 04/18/2024 SCDTF Agents, Irwin County Deputies, and State Police arrested a Tifton man while working a Governor’s Office of Highway Safety check point. Two sets of digital scales, U.S. currency, a stolen firearm, over 26 grams of pressed tablets composed of suspected fentanyl, and over 101 grams of suspected co***ne were recovered.

On the evening of 02/18/24 SCDTF Agents, Irwin County Deputies, and State Law Enforcement arrested a Tifton man in the Irwinville area. The man was found to be in possession of a firearm along with a substance that weighed over 29 grams and field tested positive for the presence of co***ne, oxycodone, and fentanyl.

On 01/31/2024 a search warrant was executed by the South Central Drug Task Force, the Ocilla Police Department, and the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office. The search produced multiple amounts of suspected ma*****na, multiple tablets that were found to be co***ne based, suspected methamphetamine, packaging materials, U.S. currency, and digital scales. Eleven cases were generated in the Month of January resulting in multiple arrests. Cases involving suspected co***ne, Methamphetamine, Ma*****na, and assorted scheduled pills were closed by arrests along with one trafficking in co***ne arrest. On 11/13/2023 a collaboration between the South Central Drug Task Force, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, the Irwin County Sheriff’s Office, GPSTC Police, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation led to the arrest of two individuals found to be in possession of trafficking amounts of suspected Methamphetamine and trafficking amounts of suspected fentanyl. Jimmie Frank Drummond 42, and Kiala Murray 30, were taken into custody in the later hours of the afternoon, on the East Side of Irwin County. The duo was found to be in possession of over 2960.1 grams, 104 ounces or over 6 pounds of the crystal like substance (crystal methamphetamine), and 20.41 grams of suspected fentanyl. A set of digital scales in working order, packaging materials, and over 10k in U.S. currency were seized in the case. The investigation revealed that these large amounts of Illegal drugs were being distributed within multiple counties in South Georgia. The case is a huge success for the rural Irwin community and the citizens that live within. The citizens that reside here don’t want your poison in our streets. This case marks the largest Methamphetamine bust in Irwin County history.
