*Staff Spotlight: Meet Radmila “Rada” Abram, Mixed Medium Art Instructor in Senior Services who joined Parks and Recreation in 2022. Rada shares her passion through instruction extending her belief in the healing power of art and its benefits to health and well-being.
*Born in the former Yugoslavia, she earned her medical degree from the University of Belgrade in 1983 and later immigrated to the United States. Seeking to unite her passions for medicine and art, she earned a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1998. During a 25-year career as an art therapist, she worked with children and adults in schools, hospitals, community settings, and private practice.
*Rada’s artwork is inspired by nature’s beauty and constant change. Using a variety of media, she empowers herself and her senior students to create intuitive pieces that explore transformation, connection, and personal growth which reflects her belief in the healing and restorative power of art.
*She continues to create and exhibit her work, encouraging viewers to reflect, connect, and discover meaning through art. Whenever Rada has a creative block, she reminds herself of the quote by Charlie Mackesy, “The greatest illusion,” said the mole, “is that life should be perfect.”
*Thank you Rada, for bringing your passion to our Parks & Recreation senior community!
