Halloween and Thanksgiving and everything that is fall has arrived at our Thrift Shop. We have costumes, cute decorations and spooky characters all waiting to find a new home. They will all be on display and ready to purchase on Tuesday, September 8th. Most are one of a kind. We are opened on Tuesdays and Saturdays, 10-3:00 PM and Thursday 10-4:00 PM.

Our Footsteps Program, co-chaired by Christie Brande and Gloria Briggs, and Winter Warmth, chaired by Laura Farr, have joined forces to bring students a one stop shopping experience at the Sparkle House. On Saturday, August 29th, students from Carlsbad were invited to visit the event and pick out a new pair of shoes, 6 pairs of socks, health kits and then meet with Laura and her team to choose either a sweatshirt or raincoat and a blanket. This is the first time all the items were available together at the same time. On September 12th the ladies are expecting 700 children from the Oceanside School District.

On Saturday, August 22nd Ellen Moss and Kathie Hafner, co-chairpersons for ALNC's Chapters for Children program, worked with other AL Chapters and the YMCA to provide school clothing to children of military families living at Camp Pendleton. Our chapter provided underwear and water bottles. We had a great group of volunteers passing out the items. Thanks to Nancy Schaefer for providing photos of the event.

On Thursday the new board of directors for 2026-2027 met for the first time for their orientation at the Sparkle house led by president Krista Ross .She had a special guest speaker, Catherine Rose, NAL Board Chairperson. Catherine presented a slide presentation on "Governing With a Purpose."
