3rd Battalion, 1st Marines communication section participated in Noble Sky Wave, an annual high-frequency (HF) radio competition originating from and hosted by the Canadian DOD. Military Units and private communicators from across the globe participate in this event, competing in establishing secure HF radio checks with other competing units. 3rd battalion, 1st marines placed 4th out of over 300 teams, placing higher than any other Marine Corps unit! !

3rd Battalion, 1st Marines conducted Quarterly Readiness Training (QUART25.1) with the Navy onboard the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) Somerset focusing on ship integration, amphibious and air operations, and staff planning tailored to Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) operations.

Marines from Kilo Company conducted LFAM 600. Marines executed three days and nights of dry and live-fire battle drills designed to assess Marines’ lethality with a variety of weapons systems and evaluate proficiency in executing battle drills.

Calling all 3/1 Association members, prior/ present 3/1 Marines, Gold Star families, friends and family. Join us for a motivating beach run through San Diego’s most iconic beach’s. PB and Mission Beach.

Get your silkies out, lace up your boots, and throw on those high speed M frame Oakleys as we link up at the Pacific Beach Pier.

We will be running where the surf hits the sand for four miles. Run starts at 0800. T-shirt is included with your registration.

If you cannot make it to San Diego but still would like to participate. Register as a Shadow Runner. We’ll send you a shirt.

Couldn’t be more proud of Sgt Ethan Sutherland of Weapons Company! Today he was awarded the Sergeant Major Wilbur Bestwick Award at the Modern Day Marine Convention! “Make them Count!”

The Marine Corps League awards ceremony and breakfast gave special recognition for the exceptional contributions of six outstanding U.S. Marines and Sailors currently serving with the U.S. Marine Corps.
