🦌 Fawn Season Has Arrived

Residents are encouraged to be alert for young deer throughout the community this time of year. Fawns may be found resting in yards, near homes, or even beneath parked vehicles. Drivers should also use caution, as young deer may unexpectedly enter roadways.

If you see a fawn, assess the location, is it in a safe location?
If so, please avoid touching or disturbing it, as the mother may return later. Monitor it from a distance and reassess the situation in 24 hours. A fawn has the BEST chance for survival when cared for by its mother.

If the fawn is in an unsafe location, appears injured, or if more than 24 hours have passed without the mother returning, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator before attempting to handle the animal.

According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Grays Harbor County's wildlife rehabilitator is:
Twin Harbors Wildlife Center
📞 360-861-4556

Thank you for helping protect local wildlife during fawn season.
