It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of retired Ocean City Police K9 Penny, Badge #340, on August 18, 2026.⁣
⁣
Penny proudly served alongside her partner, Ptl. Jacob Johnson, beginning in 2019. Certified in explosives detection, she spent her career protecting our community, assisting law enforcement partners throughout New Jersey, and serving as a beloved ambassador for our department.⁣
⁣
After retiring in October 2024, Penny enjoyed a well-earned retirement surrounded by the love of the Johnson family.⁣
⁣
Penny was more than a working K9, she was a loyal partner, protector, and cherished member of the OCPD family.⁣
⁣
Please keep Ptl. Johnson and the entire Johnson family in your thoughts and prayers.⁣

Recently, the Sawlkin brothers, avid collectors of public safety patches, stopped by Police Headquarters and ran into Sgt. Jack Davis. ⁣

Sgt. Davis did what he does best and made the boys night by giving them our PD patch and the ever so elusive Drone Unit patch to add to their arsenal. ⁣

The final day of camp has come and gone and Graduation is complete. ⁣
⁣
We started the day with a presentation from the OCPD UAS Unit. Followed by Graduation and a camp ending BBQ and ice cream truck visit. ⁣
⁣
We could not ask for a better group of kids to have joined us for the week. We hope you learned a ton, have a new found respect and knowledge for things throughout law enforcement, and had as much fun as we did! ⁣

Today was all the fun we expected it to be. ⁣
⁣
We started off with a water safety demonstration from our good friends at the Ocean City Beach Patrol — OCBP 🌊⁣
⁣
Afterwards, we went to OC Waterpark & Adventure Golf to test out our new in-water knowledge and of course have an absolute blast doing so. Huge thanks to OC Waterpark & Adventure Golf for having us and being the amazing hosts they are. ⁣
⁣
Tomorrow wraps the week up with a drone demonstration and camp graduation. But for now, time to rest after what we hope was an epic day for all!

Today was all about tactics, communication, and team building. ⁣
⁣
After the morning flag raising, campers and instructors spent the morning with our friends from LWG Lasertag playing various game styles of laser tag in the Ocean City Civic Center. ⁣
⁣
Big shout out to team one in winning the overall competition amongst the campers. But as (some) expected, they were no match for the instructors in the final match. An immensely fun day we will all remember for years to come! ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The week picks right back up tomorrow with a full slate centered around water safety and rescue techniques. Here’s to finishing out the week strong!
