Our very own Curator, Christine Okerblom, was recently featured on Delmarva Public Media and the Lower Shore 250 Commission Voices 250 project!

Voices 250 captures local stories, community history, and personal perspectives from across Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore as we reflect on America’s 250th anniversary. We’re so proud to have Christine share her insight and passion for our region's history as part of this initiative.

🎧 Listen to her interview and explore the full project here:

As we mark the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, Delmarva Public Media, in partnership with the Lower Shore 250 Commission, is sharing the stories of the people who know the Eastern Shore best. Through conversations with long-time community members, we are preserving the voices, traditio...

Check out this vintage promotional trade postcard from our collection, dating back to the early 1900s for Almoco Coffee.

Produced by Baltimore’s Levering Coffee Company (founded in 1842), Almoco was a staple in general stores across the Mid-Atlantic. In an era before digital media, companies relied on printed trade cards like this one—often featuring trustworthy local personas like "Harry"—to build brand loyalty with neighborhood shoppers.

Early 1900s vacationers and locals right here in Worcester County drank Levering coffees like Almoco. Shipped across the Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore by steamship and brought into Ocean City by rail, packaged coffees were a staple on local general store shelves and hotel breakfast tables across the Eastern Shore.
