- The Ethnobotany Library, in West Sonoma County, north of San Francisco, functioned for five years as an education center, but has not been able to reopen since it was closed by Covid and wi

- The Hawaii Forest-Garden continues but is not open to the public.
- We continue our ongoing friendship with an extensive Mazatec family in southern Mexico, and are working on a film about our shared lives and experiences. Sadly, due to the steep rise in Covid cases here in Sonoma County, we are not opening our Ethnobotany Library on the remaining Saturday in July. Apologies to anyone who tried to sign up for last Saturday, July 24. Our volunteer staff person was possibly exposed, so we had to cancel. We will remain closed until mid-September and then reassess the situation. Safety is our priority.

Update! We are tentatively opening the Ethnobotany Library, by appointment only, on Saturdays during July, 2021. We are offering great books for sale, some of them rare (not from our semi-permanent collection). If you would like to come do research, peruse the library collection, or purchase books, please make an appointment. We require masks, and we keep all the windows open. Two visitors at a time are allowed, for an hour, and you each must be a member. Prior members have had their memberships extended through 2021, due to our long closure, so please feel welcome to come back. Newcomers must become members for $35/year, which you can do on arrival. Please call 707-874-1531 to leave a message, with your contact info, about which day you'd like to visit. Or email us at info (at) botanicaldimensions.org

We will be closed in August, but may open again in mid-September, depending on how the pandemic feels, and how the elements behave. We are in wildfire country, which has added to the tension and cancelled fundraising events for us several times over the past few years. Everyone be wise and stay safe, please.

Last chance to register for this online gathering of 80+ speakers on diverse topics. Many presenters are indigenous scholars, some are from South America, others are voices we don't get to hear often. Chacruna Institute has mounted an impressive gathering. Join us if you can.

This weekend, April 24-25, 2021, Chacruna Institute is sponsoring this remarkable virtual event. Tickets are still available through Eventbrite. Sacred Plants of the Americas II is a gathering of many indigenous researchers and those whose voices are not heard as often as we wish they were. On Saturday evening, BD's director, Kathleen Harrison, will speak and show a short film about her 26 years of fieldwork in collaboration with a Mazatec family. The film, Almost Visible, is directed by Kat's daughter, the artist/filmmaker Klea McKenna. Join this remarkable group for a conversation about psychedelic and ritual plants, one that spans cultures and continents.

We are incredibly grateful for the generous support given to Kat during this difficult time. It is beautiful to see how many lives she has touched and how valuable she is to our community.

Because of your generosity, we have met and exceeded our goal! The funds raised will not only help cover her medical and personal expenses and lost earnings, but we have also raised enough to support her through her healing process and beyond so that she will have time to focus on writing a book.

In her own words: "I am simply overwhelmed, honored, and grateful beyond words for this outpouring of generosity. It will support the next stage of my life, my recovery, and my writing. Big, warm thanks to each and every one of you.”

So many have given in honor of Kat’s inspirational teaching and profound influence on our communities and our movements. We are thankful for this chance to give back her and thankful to every one who has contributed.

We will leave the GoFundMe up for a few more days so that everyone who wants to has had a chance to connect with her story. We are so lucky to have our amazing teacher and to be able to keep learning from her.

With deepest gratitude,

Kat’s family and friends

Thank you all for your loving contributions on behalf of Kat. We are happy to have this opportunity to support our wonderful teacher and friend when she needs it most. Clearly, Kat has touched so many people's lives, and we are glad to gift this time to her for healing and writing.

Showing up for our elders is important, and Kat is so deserving of the space and comfort from which to continue to share her teachings.

Writing has been Kat’s refuge since this event and we are hopeful that this community offering will enable her to finally write a book.

Kathleen Harrison, Founder and President of Botanical Dimensions, is recovering from a random, violent attack. Kat’s family and friends have begun a fundraiser to support her healing process and relief from the expenses incurred. We are sincerely thankful to all who have already contributed.

This misfortune comes at a time when Kat’s earnings had already been crucially reduced since the beginning of the pandemic due to the necessary suspension of all in-person programs at Botanical Dimensions' Ethnobotany Library.

We are grateful for any and all support to help Kat recover peacefully from this violent trauma. We are so thankful she survived, and we want her to feel as comfortable and secure as possible while she navigates the healing process. Kat has given so much to others and never hesitates to help anyone in need. We are grateful that we now have a chance to come together—as a community who has been deeply inspired by her—to give back.

Christopher and his partner Jen have given their time as volunteers for Botanical Dimensions. Now they are in need of support, as Christopher joins the waiting list for a new heart. The costs associated with this major surgery and lifelong aftercare are immense. We appreciate gifts of any amount to this sweet family during their time of need.

Make a tax-deductible donation, see Updates, and leave a Guestbook message.
