Sen. Rick Scott Honors Military Appreciation Month

Dear Fellow Floridian,

During Military Appreciation Month, we recognize our brave men and women in uniform and thank them for their commitment to protecting our freedoms. It is my honor to thank you for your service and the sacrifices you make to keep us safe.

Florida is one of the best places in the world to live, work and raise a family, and we have these opportunities and freedoms because of the service of our brave veterans and active military members. As Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel, I am working every day to keep Florida the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation.

You truly represent the best of what it means to be an American and a Floridian. Thank you, again, for your dedication to our nation. God bless!

Sincerely,

Rick Scott

United States Senator

From: Senator Rick Scott
Dear Fellow Floridian,

With the start of the 2023 Hurricane Season around the corner, I kicked off my hurricane preparedness tour across Florida to send one very clear message: Now is the time for every family to make a plan and get prepared.

Throughout my eight years as governor and now as senator, I’ve seen the destruction left behind by multiple devastating hurricanes. If there’s one lesson I’ve learned – it’s that preparedness saves lives.

Last year, we saw terrible devastation and loss of life with Hurricane Ian’s landfall in Florida. I know so many families are still working to recover and get back to their homes and businesses. But recovery would not be possible without incredible organizations like the American Red Cross Florida Regions and Meals on Wheels, which operates 126 programs throughout the state. Both of these organizations play a critical role in serving our communities, especially during hurricane season, to help families and our senior citizens receive much-needed resources and support. Ann and I were proud to give back to these organizations and donate my first quarter Senate salary to advance their work.

Now is also a great opportunity for your family to stock your disaster supply kits with vital supplies like a first aid kit, a radio, flashlights, batteries and other necessities. As I always say, you can rebuild your home, but you can’t rebuild your life. Don’t put your family and loved ones at risk. Don’t wait to take action. Get prepared today.

Sincerely,

From: Rep. Bobby Payne, District 20

Dear friends,

The 2023 Legislative Session has come to an end. Our priorities were to protect Floridians and to make sure we can continue to maintain that Florida is the best place to live. Parents now have more options than ever when it comes to their child’s education, more protections were put in place for the environment and ‘old Florida’, and personal freedoms were protected. For more information on all of the bills we passed this Session, visit myfloridahouse.gov.

In addition to policy, the legislature put in countless hours to decide the member appropriations projects that would be included in the budget. I am proud to announce that a record amount of funding for District 20 made it into the 2023/2024 budget. Below is the list of appropriation projects for the district that were put in the 2023/2024 budget and sent to Governor DeSantis for his approval.

Peace Officers Memorial Week is held every year in the month of May. Ceremonies are held to honor the Fallen Heroes and support the loved ones left behind. For their ultimate sacrifice we are eternally grateful. I would like to give a special thank you to the law enforcement from Clay, Marion, Putnam and St. Johns Counties that answer the call every day to keep the citizens of District 20 safe.

Memorial Day 2023 will be the 155th year that we’ve set aside a day to remember and honor our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Throughout our Country’s history, we have deployed our brave men and women around the world to protect our Flag and Nation. In honor of those who fought for our freedom until their dying breath, we remember and thank them on this Memorial Day.
