Please use caution and stay clear of the cleanup area currently in progress at Sholom Park as we safely remove one of our beloved hickory trees that has fallen.

This tree has long been part of our educational Walk and Talks, and served as a living reminder of the resilience found throughout nature. Over the span of its life, it endured injuries and hardships — healing as best it could and continuing to stand strong and thrive for many years.

One of the lessons this tree taught us, is to reflect on our own lives, and how we can relate to nature. Nature reminds us that we all carry scars, endure struggles, and continue forward the best we can. And sometimes, even when something appears healthy and strong on the outside, we never truly know when its time has come.

Though this loss is deeply felt, we are grateful for the years this magnificent hickory tree shared with our park and our community. Its story will continue to live on through the lessons it helped teach and all the memories made beneath its branches. 🌳

Thank you for your understanding as our team works carefully and safely during this process.

Reminder: Use of Sholom Park for Gatherings and Ceremonies

To help preserve the beauty, tranquility, and accessibility of Sholom Park for all visitors, we want to remind the public of our longstanding policy regarding organized gatherings and ceremonies.

All events—including weddings, vow renewals, elopements, group ceremonies, and similar gatherings, no matter how small — require prior written authorization and an approved permit from park management.

This policy ensures that all activities are scheduled accordingly, conducted in a way that respects the park’s peaceful environment, protects its natural landscape, and allows all guests to enjoy their visit.

If you are interested in hosting a ceremony or organized event at Sholom Park, please contact park administration in advance to request approval and obtain the necessary permit.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain Sholom Park as a serene and welcoming space for everyone.

Life has a way of teaching us its deepest truths in the quietest, hardest moments.

We celebrate living—the laughter, the milestones, the everyday beauty we sometimes overlook. But woven into that journey is loss, and with it, the undeniable reality of death. It’s something we often try to outrun or avoid, yet it touches every single one of us.

Loss changes us. It softens parts of our hearts while breaking others wide open. It teaches us to hold tighter, love deeper, and appreciate the fleeting nature of time. And while grief can feel heavy and endless, it also carries something unexpected: purpose.

Sometimes, the lives we’ve lost continue to shape the lives we live. In the way we show kindness a little more freely, in the way we choose to slow down, in the way we carry forward the lessons, love, and memories they left behind. Their absence creates a space—but that space can become something meaningful, something that grows into compassion, strength, and connection.

Life and death are not opposites—they are part of the same story. And even in loss, there can be purpose. Even in grief, there can be growth. Even in endings, there can be something that quietly, gently continues.

Hold your people close. Say the things that matter. And when loss comes—as it inevitably will—remember that love doesn’t end. It transforms.
