Oakwood Police Department

Oakwood Police Department The City of Oakwood Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that takes pride in community policing. Together, we are Oakwood.

The Oakwood Police Department strives to serve our community in a manner that is focused on solving problems, building community relationships, and preventing criminal activity. It is our goal to maintain the highest degree of service in order to protect the Oakwood quality of life. Our agency provides full-time law enforcement service, and we are continually looking for ways to ensure that we are

able to increase our capabilities. Our desire is to be a full-service agency that is the premier agency within Hall County and the Northeastern region of the State. We take a strong stance on enforcement issues with the intent of keeping our citizens safe and keeping transient criminals out of our city. Oakwood is not a place to come in order to carry out criminal activity. Our officers and staff are highly motivated and we enjoy the job that we do. We are always looking for ways to improve our professionalism, our level of training and our knowledge in order to be better able to accomplish our job duties and to meet the needs of our citizens. If you see our personnel out in the city, please feel free to come up and introduce yourself. We enjoy meeting you and hearing about how we can work with you to make the city a better place. We recognize that the provision of law enforcement services to the city is a joint effort, and that with the cooperation of the Police and the community, we can make Oakwood the best city in Georgia.

🚗💨We have seen a significant increase in reckless driving, excessive speeding, and other dangerous traffic violations on Flat Creek Road. These behaviors put motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and the families who live in our community at unnecessary risk.

Let this serve as a reminder: operating a vehicle is a privilege that comes with responsibility. Choosing to drive recklessly is an adult decision, and those who make that choice will be held accountable for their actions, regardless of age.

The Oakwood Police Department will continue conducting traffic enforcement efforts on Flat Creek Road and throughout the city. Drivers who choose to speed, race, drive aggressively, or otherwise endanger the public can expect enforcement action. 🚓🚨

Our goal is not to write citations; it is to prevent crashes, injuries, and tragedies before they happen. We ask all drivers to slow down, obey traffic laws, and help us keep our roads safe for everyone. 🚦

Drive responsibly. Arrive safely. Make good decisions behind the wheel.

🦌OH DEER!
Last night, Sgt. Crowder, Officer Schroeder, and Officer Gunn discovered a baby deer who apparently missed the memo about using designated crossing areas. After a brief investigation and a gentle relocation effort, the fawn was safely escorted from the roadway to a nearby field.

No citations were issued, although the deer was given a verbal warning about jaywalking and reminded to stay off the asphalt until it earns its driver's license.

Great job by Sgt. Crowder, Officer Schroeder, and Officer Gunn for helping keep both motorists and wildlife safe! 🚔🦌💙

Rain is nature’s way of testing your windshield wipers and your patience. 🌧️🚗

Slow down, turn on your headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles. Hydroplaning is not a driving skill... It’s a warning sign. 😅

Remember: The goal is to arrive alive, not audition for “Fast & Furious: Wet Roads Edition.”

Stay safe out there!

Yesterday, the Oakwood Police Department joined the Puckett family in honoring the memory of Chief of Police Robert Puckett, who ultimately gave his life in the line of duty. 🇺🇸 🖤💙🖤

On December 26, 1904, Chief Puckett was shot while attempting to arrest a group causing a disturbance. Despite his injuries, he courageously returned fire and ensured those responsible were brought to justice. After a long fight, he succumbed to complications from his wounds on August 3, 1906.

Chief Puckett’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Thank you to all who attended the memorial service!

❗️PSA: Scammers Target Older Adults❗️
Scammers are increasingly targeting older adults, and the financial and emotional impact can be devastating. According to the FBI, Americans over 60 lost more than $7.7 billion to scams in 2025 alone.
Common tactics include impersonating government officials, tech support, or even loved ones, often creating a sense of urgency or fear to pressure victims into sending money.

👀Red flags to watch for:
🚩 Unsolicited calls, texts, or emails
🚩Requests for secrecy or immediate action
🚩Demands for payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or cash

The best defense? Don’t engage with unknown contacts and always verify before acting. If you or a loved one may be a victim, contact your bank immediately and report it to ic3.gov.

Remember: Pause, Think, Verify, Seek Advice.

Let’s look out for one another and help protect our community. 🖤🩶🤍
